[Two Days Later, Forensic Mortuary]

The forensic lights are achingly bright, the atmosphere even hurts more. Grief swirled with the air, and sorrow forced it's way down throats.

Pedro's completely burnt body lay on the examination table, looking so hideous. The faint of heart would surely pass out at the sight.

The hanging light from the ceiling shone directly on him, highlighting the layers of his burns.

On the second table not far from him, the coroner's tools are arranged. Various scalpels and knives, different needles, gloves and hoops.

Beside that table, the coroner stood. He slipped his gloves into his hands, getting ready for autopsy.

By the left wall of the mortuary, Lady Yulia and Four stood. They both look sullen for the first time in years.

Yulia still has traces of tears in her eyes, and there are dried ones which formed lines on her face. Lips are tightly pale, hair left in knots, and her body's dry like she hasn't had her bath for the past two days.

Four looks more composed than her, but the redness of his eyes gave him away. He wanted to cry it all out since three days ago, but he couldn't.

He can't cry.

He was born without a tear gland, so he's forced to keep the pains inside and breathe the sorrows like his air.

After Pedro's body was burnt, the President ordered for him to be buried in the civilians yard with DRUGGIE written on his tombstone, but Yulia and Four had fought tooth and nail with the Presidential office just to get his body.

They finally got it today, and they brought it straight here for autopsy.

Four placed an arm on Yulia's shoulder, and she looked up, wiping the tears that's starting to roll out of her eyes.

She rested her head on his chest as the Coroner faced them.

"I'm starting,"

"Go on" Four told him..

The Coroner took a little bow before picking a scalpel.

He opened up Pedro's stomach, and Yulia's cries got louder.

She had to cover her mouth with her hanky as she watched Pedro getting slashed apart.

"There are grains of grinded rice in his belly," the Coroner said, picking them out with his hoops and dropping them on a small plate.

"Yes. According to the base chefs, he was served rice pudding that morning before he left the base." Four replied.

The Coroner called in an assistant to take the plate of rice away for poisoning check, then he continued the autopsy.

"If he was really a druggie, then there should be residual particles in his lungs and kidney. His heart should bear signs of shrinking too, but none of these is here. His stomach components are clean, which only means he was a clean healthy man." The Coroner continued, looking up from Pedro's stomach again.

"I knew it!" Yulia stumped her foot. "I know Ed would never take cocaine! He hated druggies with passion, so much that he didn't allow weed for my sons'. Even the cigarettes he allowed them to smoke, he was still insecure about it. Ed isn't a druggie, someone framed him!"

She wiped her tears again, facing Four.

"This fight? They have no idea how tough it'd be. I don't care how many years it'd take but I'll fish them out one by one and feed them their own flesh!"

Four's phone did a ding, and he stepped away to pull it out. It's his Biker calling.

He actually told him to trace Pedro's whereabouts on the morning of the day he did the killing spree.

"I checked the road cameras, but his car wasn't caught driving past in any of them." Biker said.

"Someone powerful is behind this whole thing, controlling the stage from the background. Someone I know." Four said, his eyes shutting and opening.

"Is it who I'm also thinking?" Biker said, and Four backed the wall, his scar tingling.

"You know who." His voice sounding more raspy than usual.

"Then we can't enter this case without you becoming the General or something. Trust me, you need your late father's position to get all these miscreants. This is not like before when you didn't need power to work. You need as much power as you can right now, Master. I swear. You have to become the General by whatever it takes." Biker said.

"I know." Four mumbled, his throat suddenly turning bitter.

"Then what's the next step? I heard both The Marquis and the President nominated Axel for the next General. With the nominations of those two, then it seems like it's really over. Axel will get the position at this rate." Biker continued.

"Hang up, I need to think." Four groaned, and Biker hung up.

He wants to smash his phone immediately, but that'd just be utter foolishness. Destroying thighs has never and would never be a solution to trials. He'd rather break people.

He moved from the wall, returning to Yulia who's still sorrowing.

The Coroner's assistant brought back the plate of rice.

"No sign of poisoning," he reported.

The Coroner dropped his scalpel, sighing wearily.

"I found no sign of poisoning or harm inside his organs, too. Whatever made him behave that way or whoever made him behave that way must be very powerful to have covered the traceable tracks like this." He said.

Yulia and Four looked at each other for painful seconds.

For the first time in their lives, they were caught unprepared, and it stings than any venom.

[Therapeia Mental Institute]

Sierra sat on Empress's desk, reading the base news attentively.

After General Pedro's death, all his orders became stale, so Privates now have their phones back.

The base telegr@m and Whats@pp group is back to lively again.

Armies are crazily waiting for Axel's Swearing in cos it's very sure he's becoming the next General since he got nominations from two powerful people.

They're already calling him General Axel DeVille, and at the same time, some are already referring to Four as Private Four.

Things tumbled fast. No one could have guessed that the Greece core base could become like this within three days.

Sierra switched from telegram to the WhatsApp group too, and the same thing is going on...

She began replying the armies who're calling Four a Private...

• Type that shit again and I'll kill you!

• Master Sergeant Four! He's not and will never be a Private!

• I'll kill y'all foul commenters when I get back to base!

Those were her replies, and she's still typing more when Empress entered the office.

She quickly got down from the desk.

"I know you did something to dad, you don't have to tell me."

"So now what? You're gonna go tell the cops that I'm behind it?" Empress smirked, sitting behind her desk.

Sierra sat in front of her, holding her hands.

"Don't you trust me? I'm proud of you."

Empress looked up.

"Yes I am. You did that huge thing and no one was able to trace it back to you? Gawd, I'm glad you're my mother." Sierra chuckled, and Empress relaxed with a small smile.

"Thought you liked Pedro."

"It has always been you for me, mum. He stayed with Yulia all his life, and you had to do fake calls to bring him to me when I was still young. You even had to cut your toes to bring him once. He has never been good, and I'm glad he's gone." Sierra said.

"I knew I had a brilliant daughter," Empress grinned, bumping her fist with Sierra's.

"But what next right now?" Sierra blinked.

"Four becomes lowly in that base. He loses respect of everyone and maybe becomes a Private. Axel becomes the General, but for only a while cos I'm still gonna off him, then you can become General. That seat is yours. You're the only DeVille blood who deserves it." Empress explained.

"But mum, can you go easier on Four? I really can't stand him suffering. You know i love him." Sierra pleaded.

"If he's ready to clean my shoes, maybe I can consider going easy on him. He's nothing without his father anyways." Empress replied flatly, and she suddenly looked straight at her.

"Also, you failed to kill the countryside bumpkin in the mission, so you have no right to ask for a favor."

"But mum, I'm still gonna—

"No buts, and no favors." Empress glared with the sharpness of a blade edge.

Sierra gave up, knowing she would never change her mind.

She's gonna have to help Four on her own at this rate.

She stood and went to the front of the desk, opening the drawer and pulling out a big black book.

"You remembered it today?" Empress stood too, and Sierra smiled, flipping the book open. It contains various combatting formulas.

"Of course, you taught me all the fighting techniques i know from this book, it's my gold."

"I went through hell to steal that book, then I trained myself with it before training you." Empress smiled.

"Who did you steal the book from?" Sierra asked.

"If you think you can get the answer to that, you're wrong." Empress patted her, then she picked her coat, striding out of the room.

"When are you gonna take me to the annex with you? I'd like to see what you have there." Sierra asked.

She dropped the book back in the drawer, locking it.

"If I'm in a good mood, I'll take you on a tour around the annex one of these days." Empress responded before exiting.

Sierra fell on the chair frustratedly.

"Mum is even more difficult than Four,"

But then her lashes flipped as she remembered something.

Hera!

What if The Marquis pulls some strings to get Four for Hera?

"Shit, no no no." She chanted, rushing out of the office.

--

[The Marquis Mansion]

Hera sat with her father in the open chamber, and there are more than enough doctors taking care of her body scratches and rashes.

There's a soft soothing egg mask on her face.

Two doctors are attending to her two hands, taking out the dirt under her nails.

Two other doctors are on her legs, cleaning her feet like slaves.

Then another two on her shoulders, massaging gently.

The Marquis sat across her, supervising the process quietly and refusing to speak to her despite the bratty look on her face which showed through the egg mask.

"Are you gonna remain silent and not talk to me? It's Christmas today, don't give me that face." She finally talked.

"Don't even use Christmas as an excuse. Why should I talk to a daughter who won't listen to me? You left the hospital and went to Boma alone?  You didn't think of wild animals? Cannibals? Or even wild humans and the long journey! Do you have no pity for me at all? You're the only child I've got and the only one who's gonna uphold the Lazarou family legacy after I'm gone, but you're playing with your life cos of a man?" The Marquis spat out breathlessly.

"But I love him! And I went to Boma and came back alive so stop overreacting." Hers scoffed.

"See? You never listen." The Marquis scoffed back.

Hera smiled, but she winced sharply when one of the doctors massaged her shoulder too hard.

She stood, turned around and slapped the doctor, twice.

She went ahead and poured the baby oil on the stool on his face.

The doctor shifted away, not daring to wipe his face as the oil dripped. His cheek is red from her slap.

"Are you planning to break my shoulder? Is that it? Same shoulder Eros is obsessed with?" Hera glared.

"I'm very sorry, Miss." The doctor apologized, and she slapped him again. He whimpered.

"Don't say sorry, it's icky!" She yelled.

In annoyance, she sent the doctors away. Everyone of them.

The Marquis who has been silent since the start of the abuse finally talked...

"I made some arrangements, and by tomorrow, Four should be here to sign over himself to you."

"What! Really? Dad!" Hera gasped shockingly.

"Yeah, brat." The man nodded.

"But how? He's not the type to just bow! I know him well."

"He wants to protect his father's position at all costs, so he's bound to bow. Prepare for a wedding soon." The Marquis said with a tone of finality then left the chamber.

"Yes!" Hera hugged herself very tight, imagining Four in the middle.

--

[President's Mansion]

"Hey, Xanthe!" Mrs. Katerina landed a soft knock on Xanthe's room door and waited a beat.

The guy opened up after a minute, looking like he just woke from sleep.

"Did I interrupt your sleep? I'm sorry." She quickly said.

"No it's fine," he shrugged it off.

"Merry Christmas! Though you don't even look like you're celebrating it."

"Christmas? It's for kids." Xanthe leaned on the door.

"Don't you have friends? You should go out and socialize often. You can't just sit here all year. It's either you're working for the president online or snacking or sleeping. Are you really comfortable with that pattern?" Mrs. Katerina smiled, entering the room without waiting for his invite.

"I hate socializing a lot. Back in Miami, my gees called me an Apparition cos I was always invisible." He replied, and the woman chuckled, looking around his room.

It's just normal, no distinct colour or shade, but grey stood out despite how hard he tried to hide it.

"At least you had friends in Miami, so you should socialize here too. Who'd be your best man on your wedding?" Mrs. Katerina faced him again.

"Wedding? Not now," He crossed his arms at the wrists, and she smiled again.

"What's going on about the military? Axel DeVille as the General? I don't know him, but I made researches about him, and the first I got was that he's a womanizer. Why is Four not the General instead?" He asked.

"The military management is with the President, so he holds the power, not me." Mrs. Katerina shrugged.

Xanthe came closer, and she looked at him carefully.

"Another research showed me you and dad attended same schools as the Ambrose couple, but the Ambrose couple attended on scholarships though." He said.

Mrs. Katerina stood unmoved for a while before smiling awkwardly.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I and the President attended ivy league schools where scholarships weren't provided, so wherever you found the news at is wrong. By the way, you should prepare for your wedding."

"My wedding?" Xanthe gasped.

--

[Mansion Circus]

President Spyros is preparing to go out for his yearly seasons greetings at the national kids park, but he decided to put some things in place first.

He's on a call with Teal's Uncles, two of them at the same time.

"I already spoke with Dave some days ago, so this shouldn't take much time. Come to Athens tommorow, the Marquis Mansion to be precise, and let's settle things once and for all. You can't leave your niece with a dangerous man who's about to fall low, can you?" He said.

"This isn't about leaving her with him, this is about the promise we made to her dead parents." Uncle Dave said.

"But the parents are dead! Are you both fetishizing things? You're her Uncles, mandate it for her and she'd follow!" President Spyros yelled, hanging up.

Xanthe barged into the circus.

"I'm not getting married to her." he said.

"What are you talking about? You love her!"

"I do, but she doesn't! I want someone who'd return my feelings like Gem—my dead ex. I don't want a lady to be forced into a marriage with me by my father!" Xanthe slammed.

"Stop mentioning that Gem girl to my hearing! It's irritating! She was unattractive, poor! Dull! Mention it! No qualities at all, and I'm glad she ended up dying. Now I took my time to find you an eligible woman but you're declining? I've already fixed the wedding date. Teal is getting married to you, then she's gonna leave the base and you both are gonna hit Paris for your two years honeymoon and come back here to me with a baby!" President Spyros spat, saliva flying out of his mouth as he spoke.

Xanthe's arms dropped, and he gulped twice, fighting back his tears.

"You're far from what I knew. This wasn't the father I had when my mum was still alive. You changed." He muttered.

"Changes happen, son. Roll with it." President Spyros nudged him, then he left the circus with his line of guards.

Xanthe dropped on the table.

[Military Base, Sergeant Kash's Suite]

Shannon is here, but she's not eating like she does.

She sat curled on a couch, looking unhappy.

Cassie is on the couch beside her, chatting endlessly with Axel on her phone.

Since Kash returned from Boma two days ago, she sensed the change in his vibes, but who cares?

He never ate the foods she cooked, and she didn't even bother to ask why. He stopped sleeping in bed with her, and she didn't ask why either.

It's his choice, and it's even better.

Her Axel has a better body scent. She's addicted to his smokes, and his covk.

The sweetest tale is that he's becoming the General very soon, so she's the luckiest woman on earth right now. She can't ask for more.

"Today doesn't feel like Christmas at all. Geez! The most boring Christmas ever! The kitchen chefs are still mourning the General so they didn't serve chicken or beef! It's just tea! Coffee! Rice! Pasta! Like that!" Shannon complained.

Cassie kept chatting.

"Theo hasn't looked normal since we returned, and Rook has been spending time with him. April is worse... Brent and Teal have been trying to cheer her up. Stormy suddenly became friends with Major Sierra, and Morgan has been crying around cos her boyfriend isn't contacting her. Paine is the only available Private to talk to, and I really can't stand that wuss. Geez!! Why is this base suddenly like this!!" Shannon continued ranting into the air.

Cassie still gave her no attention.

"And you know the worse part? These swines are already calling Snowman Private Four, mocking him. Then calling Sergeant Axel the General. Another geez!!' Shannon spranged up.

"And why the f+ck is Axel being a General your problem?" Cassie said.

She heard that one.

"Huh?" Shannon blinked.

"He has been serving in this base since he was 10, so he has every right to become the General after his father. Not that useless Snowman you're hyping." Cassie replied, and Shannon wasn't even aware of when her hand flew to Cassie's face.

She slapped her.

"Shannon!" Cassie gasped, clutching at her face.

"Do you know how many terrorists he killed in Boma under one hour? They're more than hundred! And he didn't use weapon on most of them! He's the reason we all came back alive! He got frostbites but still woke up to join us! The ship we rode back was driven by him too! He's trying his best and the President ain't even acknowledging him so I won't stand and watch you badmouth him!" Shannon said in a rush.

Cassie raised her hand to return the slap to Shannon's face, but she was pulled back by someone.

"Kash!"

"Sergeant Kash." Shannon muttered.

Kash's eyes is just as red as Four's. He has been crying like Yulia, unable to take Pedro's death out of his mind.

"Here," he slammed a document to Cassie's chest.

"Sign it, it's the divorce paper." He told her flatly.

"What! Sergeant Kash!!" Shannon shouted in shock.

Cassie scoffed, waving the paper in the air with a glad smile.

"Let me guess, you found another woman in Boma? I heard there's a brothel over there, so you slept with another woman?"

"Sign it, send it to the lawyer. I already cut my payment from your father's hospital bills. You can leave this suite." Kash said and strolled to the door.

"Sergeant Kash!!" Shannon ran after him.

"Fine!! You fuckin scum! You'll be shocked by my comeback too! You think I can't live without you? You're the one who won't be able to live without me! This divorce? It's been long due!"

She got a pen and signed.

--

"Sergeant Kash!" Shannon caught up with him in front of the suite.

"Why? Why suddenly?  I saw you that night during our mission stop when Lady Yulia and Snowman were consoling you at the back of the tent, and I know Snowman took you to the brothel at Boma to cheer you up. What's going on? What did Cassie do?" She asked.

"It'll come to light soon, you'll see for yourself. Very soon, trust me." Kash forced a smile, then he left her there.

--

[Axel's Unit]

Axel is already striking poses, practicing for his swearing in.

He raised three fingers in front of the full mirror like he's taking the oath already, and he's grinning proudly.

"Who knew father's death would come so fast? Who knew?"

He checked the derogatory comments about Four on telegram, and the appraisal posts about himself.

He grinned again, but Cassie's rushed entry made him twirl.

Cassie waved the divorce paper excitedly in the air.

"Axel! I'm finally all yours! Kash orchestrated the divorce!" She shouted.

Axel laughed delightfully, taking the paper from her to check out.

"Good, very good."

How would Kash feel when he gets married to Cassie?

How would Four feel when he finally becomes the General?

Those two are close anyways, it would be sweet to ruin them at the same time.

"Are you ready to be in a wedding dress soon again? Get married with a glittering ring and not some cheap stone? What do you think of being the General's wife?" He asked.

Cassie's eyes shone.

"General's wife? You're gonna marry me?"

"Yup." Axel replied, and she quickly stripped herself n+ked for him.

--

[Sierra's Suite]

Sierra and Allegra are inside, but also Stormy who just got freshly initiated into the sorority by Sierra.

Allegra is on her phone again.

Sierra looks restless as hell.

"That Hera lady shouldn't have this much hold on you." Stormy said.

"Are you fuckin serious? She's the Marquis daughter. Do you know how much power her father wields? Axel is becoming the General just because that man nominated him with the President." Sierra stood.

"That's huge," Stormy admitted.

"I know, right? I can't fight this feeling that the old Marquis is up to something." Sierra nailed herself, pacing restlessly.

"Why must you f+ck your half-brother? Let him go. New batch of Privates will come in next year and you'd find the one you like. Stop this unnecessary drama over Private Four and let's just celebrate Christmas in peace." Allegra said.

"You're talking like this cos you have someone you're f+ckin, so I don't really have anything to say to you." Sierra rolled eyes.

"And did she just call him Private Four?" Stormy laughed.

"Do you even know who she's fuckin these days?" Sierra sat back.

"Who?" Stormy blinked.

"Quentin, Morgan's guy." Sierra said.

"Ouu, spicy." Stormy laughed.

"You're not with Morgan anymore?" Allegra asked from the bed.

"Since she betrayed me, I've been keeping my distance. I don't care." Stormy sighed.

Allegra stood n+kedly and pulled her underwear on.

"I wish the base can stay fun like this forever, but who am I kidding? Once Axel gets sworn in as the new General and new Privates gets enlisted, then fresh trainings and reshuffling will start and I'm so not ready." She groaned.

"I personally can't wait for the new Private recruits next year. New people to maltreat." Sierra sighed.

--

[Field]

April sat in the middle of Teal and Brent, but her head is on Teal's chest, and she's bawling her eyes.

Brent is busy offering her candies which she kept turning them down.

"You need to stop. Lady Yulia won't punish you for the abortion, she doesn't even have time to attend to anything since the General's death so you're safe." Teal stroked April's hair.

"It's not my fault I can't stop the tears. Skye wasn't enough but the General too? And Axel is the next General? Please let me cry." April sniffled.

"Say ah." Brent brought a piece of candy to her mouth.

She shook her head, but he forced her mouth open and shoved the candy inside.

"Chew and feel better," Brent smiled.

"I can't wait for Axel's Swearing in, I'm telling you! It'd be thrilling to watch Snowman become a Private." A passing Private said.

"Me too, would love to see how he'd be able to sleep in the barracks." Another one supplied.

Teal spranged up, blocking the both.

"Your dreams will never come true! He's never becoming a Private so watch your mouths!"

She was already sweating, looking stressed as she said those limited words.

"Are you insane?" The first Private said.

"No need to ask, she's crazy. Who do you think you are? Master Sergeant's betrothed? Master Sergeant that's becoming a Private soon?" The second one laughed in jest.

They stalked away, and Teal just stood there, lost for words.

Since two days ago, she hasn't had one conversation with Four.

She hasn't even seen him at all.

She always looked back at the slightest swoosh of air, but it's like he's a ghost. Unseen.

She just wants him to say he had a tangible reason for breaking up with Hera. She wants him to explain, and no idea why she's feeling the need, but she feels it.

She wants to hear him, but he's not even appearing anywhere near her since the General's death.

She wants to console him, but he's not giving her the chance at all.

She bit the side of her mouth deeply. So damn deep that she felt her flesh pulling.

April and Brent stood at the same time...

"Let's leave," Brent said, and she nodded, leaving with the two.

--

[Next Day]

General Pedro's burial happened an hour ago with just three people in attendance.

Lady Yulia, Sergeant Kash and Four.

Yulia refused to let anyone else attend. It's as secretive as that, and after they left the burial, they came straight to The Marquis Mansion.

Yulia actually got a inbox from the old man, stating that if she wants to reclaim her husband's seat with her son, she should come take the steps.

So they came, though Sergeant Kash didn't come with them.

It's just her and Four.

The moment they entered and saw Teal's two uncles, they got what this is all about.

The uncles sat side-by-side on a leather in the wide solarium, and Hera herself is sitting beside her father, smiling brightly.

The makeup on her face is much, she tried it out today just to stand out.

Her skirt is a mini one, and she's not wearing a bra inside her singlet, so her large breasts are poking, and her hair fell in thick curls on her shoulders.

The Marquis looks mighty on his seat, tilting his walking cane to the ground.

A desk is in front of him, and two inked documents are on the desk, clear as day.

Guards flanked the solarium to the brink, and they're all armed.

Four stopped in front of him, and the old man cleared his throat.

"The first document is to Forfeit Teal Ambrose's bethrotal to you. Her uncles already signed in cancelation of the bethrotal, so you should sign too." He stated.

Silence descended in the solarium.

"Second document is to sign yourself over to my daughter officially, and once you sign, you're to have a white wedding with her and become my son-in-law. The moment you do, I'll go on your behalf to the President, and in a week, you'll be sworn in as the General" The old man continued.

The silence thickened, and Four's eyes went to the papers.

No emotions whatsoever in his eyeballs, so it's hard to know what he's thinking at the moment.

He hasn't had a sip of water for days, it's just gin and air. He looks pale.

"You're shameless! Has anyone ever told you that? A shameless snake! Green snake for that matter!" Yulia snarled behind, then she laughed.

"The world is evolving and old wise peeps are building their lives, but all you and your loose daughter are concerned about is stealing my son after you killed my husband? Oh what a shame.. shame!!" She yelled.

"Four DeVille, are you signing or not?" The Marquis asked calmly.

Hera is panicking on her seat, praying he'd give in and sign the two.

Uncle Paul is recording a video to send to Teal, and he's not even hiding the camera. Everyone knows he's recording.

Four saw the camera, too.

--

[Military Base, Teal's Suite]

Communal dinning food didn't hit the same, so Teal came without touching her dinner.

She decided to watch some judo videos and sleep off, so she wore Four's shirt—the one she took from his Unit.

She wore his boxers too, and she was smelling him as she came back to the lounge to settle down.

She dressed her leg which is healing very fast, and her eyes thinned.

She has tried his line severally since she got her phone back, but he hasn't been picking her calls.

That only increased her worries.

She paused the judo video and was about to try his line again when she got a video message...on Whatsapp.

She frowned when she saw it's from Uncle Paul, but her frown untwisted when she clicked the video.

Playing live from the Marquis Mansion...

"Four DeVille, are you signing or not?" The Marquis asked calmly.

Teal stood sharply, holding the phone so tight without even knowing. The phone edges heated with her palms.

She watched the video with dry throat.

Four stood there, enigmatically. He's still staring at the documents, and silence is still prevailing.

A line of sweat broke on Teal's brows without her permission, dripping on the phone screen.

Four walked to the desk, and with each step he took, she gulped emptiness. Her lips dried, too.

Four got to the desk and took his own pen out of his pocket.

He bent over the desk and signed the two documents one after the other.

"Yes!! Yes baby!" Hera rushed into his arms happily.

Her br+àsts pressed his chest, spilling up s+ductively from her singlet as she entangled herself around him.

A sweat fell from Teal's brows again to her phone screen...

But as it fell, she noticed it's not from her brow. It's from her eye.

It's not a sweat.

It's a teardrop.
