Two days later, both families arrived at the court for the divorce proceedings. Karan and Arya were alone in the office with the judge, while their families waited in the lobby.
The judge, a middle-aged man with a serious expression, looked up from the papers on his desk.
"Do you have kids?" he asked.
"No."Karan shook his head.
The judge nodded and jotted down some notes. "Okay. How long have you been married?"
"Just a month."Karan replied
"A month? If your marriage is just a month, why are you filing for a divorce?" The judge asked surprisedly.
"It's what we both want. It was a forced marriage." Karan answered.
The judge turned to Arya, who had remained calm and quiet throughout the exchange. "Is that true, young lady?"
"Yes, your honor, it's a forced marriage."
"Okay. Has there been any domestic violence involved in the relationship?"
Karan and Arya hesitated, exchanging a brief glance. Arya spoke up, her voice calm. "Um, no."
Karan stole a gaze at Arya, his expression unreadable.
The judge nodded, seemingly satisfied with their response. He continued with the questioning, eventually handing them the divorce papers to sign.
Karan took the paper, without hesitation, before signing with a flourish. He pushed the paper to Arya, who hesitated for a longer moment before signing her name with a steady hand.
She handed the paper back to the judge, her look calm and collected.
After some minutes, Karan and Arya emerged from the courthouse, their faces somber. Arya walked over to her parents, who were waiting anxiously. Her mother, enveloped her in a warm hug.
"The divorce papers have been signed by the two couples, but for it to be validated, they will be living together under the same roof for about three months," the judge announced. "At this point, each of them is free to do whatever they want. Once the three months is complete, they are free to go their separate ways, and the divorce papers will be sent after validation."
The families nodded, their faces solemn.
"Thank you," Mr. Taru said, shaking hands with the judge.
"Anytime," the judge replied, smiling.
"We will take our leave now," Mr. Taru said, and the judge nodded.
Outside, Arya walked over to her in-laws, a smile on her face.
"Grandma, Dad, Mom, I will go with my family. Let me stay with them today. I will come home tomorrow," she said.
Grandma Viti's face softened, her eyes warm. "No problem, dear. We will be waiting for you."
The family shared a group hug before pulling away from each other.
"Take care of yourself and don't forget to come tomorrow," Roshni reminded Arya.
"Okay, Mom. Bye," Arya replied, waving at them before joining her parents in the car. They drove off.
"I hope she gets through this." He said, sighing.
"I think I should start finding a suitable man for her." Grandma Viti said.
"Yeah, the one who will love and cherish her." Roshni said smiling.
"I will suggest we seek her approval first, if she will be okay with it." Jash said.
The family nodded in agreement before joining Karan in the car and driving off.
★KABRI'S MANSION★
They arrived home and went inside, where everyone rushed to them, except Samara, who watched from the stairs with a smug expression.
"How did it go?" Zara asked, her face etched with sadness.
Karan smiled, his eyes gleaming with happiness. "Well, we got the divorce."
Gian and the rest of the family looked relieved and happy, except Zara, Maya, Ved, and Zara's husband, who looked somber.
"What?" Zara's husband asked, his brow furrowed in concern.
"Yes, now I can live my life freely."Karan shrugged, his look carefree.
He walked away, leaving the family staring after him.
"Mom, why did you allow this?" Zara asked, her voice tinged with disappointment.
"It was a decision they made. All we have to do is support them."
"Wait, does that mean Arya won't be coming to this house again?" Ved asked.
"She will still be living with us for the next three months." Roshni said.
"Why? I thought they divorced."Sai looked puzzled.
"Yes, they are, but the judge said they can stay under the same roof for about three months before they can go their separate ways, and they can do anything they want."Jash explained.
"Oh, but why is she not here with you?" Maya said.
"She will be home tomorrow." She left for her room, leaving the family to process the news.
"Don't worry, everything happens for a reason." Roshni said.
She left with her husband to their room, while the rest sat down, some looking happy and others sad.
"So, this means Karan can fully marry Samara." Kiara said, excitedly.
"Exactly! I am so happy."Gian grinned.
The sad ones stared at them, rolling their eyes in dismay.
★TARU'S HOUSE★
The whole family was gathered around the dining table, enjoying their meal together. Arjun's face lit up with a mischievous grin.
"Finally, I am happy you are free from that moron," he said, chuckling.
"Yes, now we start looking for another perfect match for you since the first one was a disaster." Mr.Taru said.
"Um, can you guys at least wait for me to overcome the divorce? It's barely twenty-four hours." She said.
"I know, dear, I just don't want you to be left alone in all this." Mr. Taru said.
"I am not alone, Dad. I have you guys here, and of course, Grandma and the rest."
"She's right, we should give her a week. I'll make sure I examine the match for you before you're allowed to go with him."Arjun said , playful.
The family burst into laughter at Arjun's joke.
"Don't worry, the gods will lead us to a perfect match for you."Mrs. Amal said, warmly.
"I'll do the selection myself."
"Sure, we're not going to stop you this time."Mr. Taru said smiling.
Laughter filled the room as they continued eating, the atmosphere warm and joyful.
★KABRI'S MANSION★
Karan and Samara stood facing each other in the room, their eyes locked in a loving gaze. Karan's arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her close, while Samara's arms rested on his shoulders.
"I am so happy that we will finally be together. I can't wait to be called your wife," she said, her voice filled with excitement.
"Me too, I think we should start the preparation," he said, his voice filled with enthusiasm.
"Yes, but my parents aren't around now. They will be back in a week. When they arrive, then we can start preparing for the marriage process."
"Sure, no problem."He nodded, his face understanding.
He leaned in, his lips brushing against Samara's forehead in a gentle kiss. Then, he pulled her into a warm hug, holding her close as they stood there, basking in each other's love.
