Nonye - Episode 17

They walked in, and the one holding the picture spoke up, her words cutting deep. "See who is trending?" she said, clapping her hands.
"...Who could have taught the almighty prophetess Nonye to do this underground? But wait, I thought you were decent. Never knew you were full of deception, deceiving everybody."

Her words stung, and I felt my heart sink.

"Anyway, you can't fool me because I personally never believed in you from the onset. No wonder people always go against those fellowshippers. You guys love claiming what you are not... now your shame is everywhere around the school... mtcheewww."

She hissed and eyed me, throwing the paper at me before walking out with her two friends. Looking at the picture, I became terrified. My hand began to shake, and I felt like I was going to collapse.

"Oh my goodness! Why this?! I never expected this! Why is Ada doing this to me?" I thought to myself. How many people would I have to explain my ordeal to? How many people would believe me? How many people would be patient enough to hear me defend myself?

I burst into tears, crying out loud. "Lord, have mercy on me, please. I know I've chosen my own path, which has now led to my doom and shame... please, I'm sorry."

My roommates were speechless, seeing the picture. I knew they had lots of questions, but I couldn't answer them. My heart ached, and my eyes wouldn't stop releasing tears.

"Nonye, I hope this isn't what I'm thinking?" Rachel spoke up.

"Hope we aren't on the same page like this, because what this picture is saying is unable to convince my thought... were you... raped?" Blessing voiced out.

I tried to clean my face and stop myself from crying, but it was difficult. How would I save myself from this mess? Who would I report to? The picture was from the other night with Chucks and Ekene on a bed with me half-naked. They had set me up, blurring their faces while leaving mine visible.

Blessing hugged me, trying to comfort me. "It's okay... brace up and stop crying, God will lead us through."

As I sat there, feeling helpless and ashamed, I remembered the night my dad called to relate his dream. It had been three years now, but everything came flooding back as if it had just happened.

I thought about Faith, someone I had confided in, but who had led me astray. It had been a long time since we last spoke. I realized that I had allowed Faith's opinions to override God's will for me.

As the night wore on, I became increasingly desperate. I thought about committing sμ¡c¡de or going home to face my parents with shame.

But then I decided to open up to my friends. I told them everything  about Chuks, Ekene, and the picture. I told them about Ada's threat and how I felt trapped and ashamed.

Rachel and Blessing listened attentively, their faces filled with concern. When I finished talking, they hugged me tightly.

"We're here for you, Nonye," Rachel said. "We'll get through this together."

Blessing nodded in agreement. "But firstly, we need to talk to Evelyn. She needs to be aware of what's going on because, prior to you not doing what you're expected to do, who knows? They might be planning other things behind the scenes."

I nodded, knowing that Blessing was right. Evelyn really needed to know everything.

"But what could she have done to warrant this?" Rachel asked. "and thinking you're the best tool to be used... it's just not fair."

I shook my head, feeling a mix of emotions. "I don't know, but I need to talk to her. I need to tell her everything."

Blessing stood up. "I think we will be needing Victor's help or what do you think? We need to get to the bottom of this."

"Hmm, that's a good idea though," Rachel said, "but don't know if Nonye is OK with it."

I sighed, feeling desperate. "Do I have a choice? All I need now is help."

Rachel nodded. "Alright, Blessing, you can call him. Just tell him to come over."

At that, I felt a sense of hope. Maybe, just maybe, we could get through this together.
