Deluxe's POV

I blinked twice to shield my eyes from the blinding sun rays, but it didn't help. I turned to the opposite side of the incredibly comfortable bed.

"Morning, sleeping beauty," the awfully familiar voice greeted, forcing my eyes open. I smiled at the figure before me. "You know, I told you that your wish is my command, and I'd do anything you ask of me."

I sluggishly sat up on the bed and grinned widely. "You did. I owe you one."

"Oh, no. You don't. What are friends for if not to help each other out, even if it means kidnappiñg?" my best friend, Phoebe, replied.

"You're right. Thank you for kidnappíng me. I've always wanted to be kidnappéd, but my dad never let that happen. I guess he didn't see this one coming," I said with a chuckle.

Phoebe laughed as she lowered herself onto the bed next to me, extending a glass of banana milkshake. "Here. Let's hope the plan works out."

I took the glass from her and sipped a little. "Yeah. And let's hope they don't kíll each other first."

My best friend nodded in agreement before sighing heavily. "Do you think we should send the first message?"

"No. I want them to feel my absence fully," I replied, pondering for a moment. "Wait. Maybe we should."

Phoebe, who had always aspired to be a professional hip-hop dancer, moved to Mexico to pursue her dreams. My dad didn't approve of our friendship and threatenéd her, but her dad's position as an FBI agent made him back off. She lives alone in a beach house on the outskirts of the country and had her own dance studio in town.

She took out the new untraceable phone her dad had given her and dialed Alexander's number. As the phone rang, she cleared her throat.

Yesterday, after Alexander and I had a little argument, I messaged Phoebe, and when everyone was asleep, I sneaked away, and she drove me to her house. I was desperate for everyone to get along with or without me forcing them, and this was the only way.

Yes, I knew they would be worried sick about me, but they weren't ready to listen. I sipped my drink again, patiently waiting for him to answer.

"Yeah?" Alexander's tired and angry voice reached my ears. "Who is this?"

"That's not what you should be concerned about," Phoebe replied, changing her voice to sound different.

"I don't know who the fúck you are or what gave you the audacity to talk to me like that, but I really don't have time for your bullshít."

I sighed softly at the sound of his voice. I couldn't even begin to imagine how stressed out he must be right now. My mom would have cried her eyes out, and my dad would have ordered a search for me.

"Will you have time after I tell you that Deluxe Dominguez is here with me?" Phoebe asked.

"What are you talking about?" Alexander sounded alert and skeptical.

"I know who she is to you, and I'm sure you would want to have her back in your arms. You just have to do one thing for me."

"You obviously don't know who you're talking to. I am Alexander Romano. I am not only the head of the Italian Mafía but also a very influential person in the business world. If I find out my girlfriend is truly with you, you'll be deád."

Phoebe burst out laughing, unfazed by his threat, and hummed tauntingly. "I highly doubt that, but if it makes you feel better, you can think like that. I just need you to give me what I want."

"You must really think I'm a fool, huh?"

"Aren't you?" I nudged her stomach with my elbows, and she grinned at me. "I'll send you her picture in a minute, and that will prove it, right?"

"Who are you? Who sent you? What do you want?" His questions were urgent and demanded answers.

"Who I am is none of your business. Who sent me is also none of your business, Alexa. I want... you."

I couldn't hold back my laughter and ended up choking on my drink. I stared at her with widened eyes, and she just shrugged, a smirk playing on her lips.

"What?!" Alexander snapped. "And my name is Alexander."

Phoebe had always had a massive crush on my brother, Damon, even before we met each other. She even dreamed about a future with him.

That's what made this situation even funnier.

"Just kidding. I want half a billion dollars, and I'll call you whatever I want."

"I'm not doing that."

"You think I don't know that you're stalling and talking this much just to trace my location? You won't find it. I'm not stúpid," she said confidently, tapping on the phone and sending a picture of me tied up in a chair. "Send the fuckíng money, or she díes."

"Touch her, and you'll díe a very, very painfully slow deàth that you'll beg for but won't get until I decide to give it to you. Let her go while I'm still being nice."

"You're never nice."

"You're right. I hate being nice, especially with people like you. I don't believe the picture. Send me a video. Let me talk to her."

"No. Bye."

Just before she hung up, I cried out, "Let go of me. Just let me go!"

"That was good. Even I thought you were in trouble," Phoebe said, slumping heavily onto the bed with a sigh. "This is fun. We should do it more often."

"You're cràzy. You don't know who you're messing with. Even I'm scared of Alexander, and he's my boyfriend and the father of my child."

"I'm gonna be a cool aunt," Phoebe chimed, beaming brightly.

"You mean a cool godmother," I corrected, following her playful lying game.

She gasped in surprise and faced me with sparkling eyes. "You're serious? You're going to make me the godmother of Lily?"

I laughed, shaking my head. "Okay, firstly, we don't know the gender yet. Secondly, we haven't thought of a name yet. Thirdly, of course, who else would kidnàp her when she needs it?!"

"I love you!"

"Ew." I playfully scrunched up my face. "Do I look like Damon to you?"

"You're my sister-in-law."

"Amen to that!"

Fingers crossed, they would work together to find me.
