Author's POV

"Alexander, I have some news." The doctor said, scribbling on the clipboard in his hand. "Alice is ready to be discharged from the hospital, but she needs to be taken care of and avoid stress."

Alexander looked at Alice, asleep in her bed, and nodded. "Alright. Prepare the discharge papers, we'll leave as soon as she wakes up."

He didn't want to push her, but he knew Alice didn't want to stay in the hospital any longer. It only seemed to make her sicker.

He wanted her to fully heal before leaving, but he respected her wish to go home.

"Okay," the doctor replied, handing the clipboard to the nurse. "Let's go."

After they left the room, Alexander approached Alice with a smile. He was glad she was coming back. She didn't look as pale as before, and her lips had regained their color. She was slowly recovering, and it made him happy.

Her eyes fluttered open as he brushed his fingers against her arm. "Baby, I didn't mean to wake you."

Alice smiled lightly when she saw Alexander. Sitting up in bed, she asked, "Can I be discharged now?"

"Uh huh, the doctor said you're good to go."

Alice had never liked hospitals. The smell, the needles, the white everywhere. It made her feel sick. She rarely got sick, and when she did, she preferred to be treated at home rather than at the hospital.

"Thank God, I can't wait to leave here."

"We will, after you eat," Alexander replied, pointing to the takeout on the nightstand. "I got you McDonald's."

"Thanks, I love you."

"I love you too, Princess."

Alice smiled, but underneath it all, she knew that things were about to take a turn for the worse.

It felt like ages since Alice had seen the house she now called home, even though it had only been a week. The guards watched their boss's car driving in at a normal speed after days of zooming in like a maniác.

After getting out of the car, Alice took a deep breath before looking at Alexander, who was watching her with adoration. "I missed this," she said.

"Don't make me jealous of my house, babygirl," Alexander replied.

"You can get jealous, I don't care," she replied, walking into the living room without him.

Still feeling pain in her chest, Alice found herself pouting sadly at her friends Blair and Lizabeth. "You didn't come see me at the hospital. You're not my friends anymore," she said in a babyish voice.

"Sir's orders," they responded in unison, grinning at Alice's childish pout.

When Alexander approached her, she turned to face her friends. "I should have known. I missed you guys so much."

"Good evening, Sir," Blair and Lizabeth greeted in unison as Alexander walked past them. "Bye, Alice."

"They are still scared of you," Alice said, glaring at her boyfriend.

"That's how it should be, darling," Alexander replied.

"I don't like that," Alice said.

"Why?" Alexander asked.

"Just because," Alice replied.

"They are my employees, they need to be scared of me," Alexander said.

Rolling her eyes, Alice walked away from her boyfriend, muttering, "Whatever."

As Alice came out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, she had to rush to answer her ringing phone. Seeing the caller's ID, her heartbeat quickened. Her hand shook as she accepted the call.

"Será mejor que empieces a hablar de por qué no has contestado tu llamada desde el día que mamá te visitó," her brother said on the other end.

(You better start talking on why you haven't picked up your call since the day mom visited.)

Hearing her brother's voice only made her more nervous and scared. "Darren, me enganché con algo," Alice replied.

(Darren, I got caught up with something)

Her immediate elder brother, Darren, laughed, but it wasn't a lighthearted laugh. It was more scary than being trapped with a lioñ.

"Por favor, dile a papá que estoy bien y que no debería entrar, yo me encargaré de lo que sea que esté pasando aquí," Alice pleaded.

(Please tell Dad I'm fine and he shouldn't come here, I'll handle whatever is going on here.)

"Demasiado tarde, Deluxe. Ya estamos en Italia," her brother replied.

(Too late, Deluxe. We are already in Italy.)

Tears spilled from her eyes without warning. The air was knocked out of her lungs. This was bad news, the kind that has the power to ruin people's lives in an instant.

"Nosotros? Qué quieres decir con nosotros?" Alice asked, getting herself ready for whatever would happen. Her brothers were exactly like her father - ruthless to those they hated and caring to their loved ones.

(We? What do you mean by we?)

"Damon, Daniel y yo con unos hombres. No pude detenerlos, hermana. Estamos llegando a la casa de Alexander ahora mismo," her brother said.

(Damon, Daniel and I with some men. I couldn't stop them, sis. We are coming to Alexander's house right now.)

"No no no no no, esto es malo. Alexander nunca me lo perdonará," Alice said, realizing the gravity of the situation.

(No no no no no, this is bad. Alexander will never forgive me.)

Crying wouldn't solve anything, but that was her closest option. She let the tears flow down her face freely.

"Por qué necesitas que te perdone?" her brother asked.

(Why do you need him to forgive you?)

"No es asunto tuyo, dile al conductor que dé la vuelta. Cómo llegaste a saber dónde está la casa de Alex?" Alice replied, before the phone was snatched away by her eldest brother, Damon.

(None of your business, tell the driver to turn back. How did you even get to know where Alex's house is?)

"Oh hermanita, espero verte en diez minutos," Damon said ominously.

(Oh little sister, I expect to see you in ten minutes.)

Alice's heart stopped as she felt lightheaded, stumbling and dropping the phone. It was over. Everything was over.
