Alice made sure to rise before 7:00 AM, intending to catch Alexander before he left for work on this Sunday. She knew he wasn't one to stay home all day, given that he had even gone out yesterday.

After a brisk shower, she dressed and tied her hair back, then headed downstairs.

Upon entering the kitchen, she found the maid preparing Alexander's coffee.

"Good morning, Ms. Alice," the maid greeted, bowing her head respectfully upon noticing her presence.

Alice let out an annoyed huff. "I've told you this before, and I'm saying it again: please call me by my name."

The maid mumbled, shaking her head. "Sorry, miss, but I can't."

Alice approached the maid, placing a hand on her shoulder. "What's your name?"

"Blair."

She nodded, biting her lip. "Blair, your Sir has kidnapped me, so let me feel a little at home by calling me by my name, which is Alice, please."

Blair hesitated but finally relented. "Okay, Ms... Alice."

"Good. Thank you." Alice smiled at her. "Where is the other girl?"

"In the quarters," Blair replied, picking up a cup of coffee and placing it on a tray. "Please excuse me."

As Blair left the kitchen, Alice's eyes wandered around the room. The kitchen was impeccably white and well-organized.

Alice opened the cupboard above her head and retrieved a pack of sliced bread. She placed two slices in the toaster and then opened the fridge to retrieve the jam.

After placing the toasted bread on a plate and the jam on a tray, she headed upstairs.

Rule № 2 stated, "Don't enter my room or study."

Well, the rule had already been partially broken; she had been in his study. But this would be her first time in his room, and she knew that Alexander despised disobedience. He preferred everything to go exactly as he ordered.

Hesitation washed over her as she lifted her knuckles to knock on his door. However, he opened it before she could, narrowing his gaze at her.

Fear surged through her, coursing through every nerve, but she managed to maintain a big smile on her face. "Hi, good morning."

"Alice, you really seem to hate your life, I can see that," he said, holding his coffee mug below his lips, locking eyes with her.

"I made you breakfast," Alice chimed, still smiling. "How was your night?"

"I don't think it's any of your business," he snapped, glaring at her.

Taking a deep breath, she locked her gaze onto Alexander. "If you're going to keep me on your property, you might as well be friendly with me, Mr. Romano."

There was something strangely attractive about an angry Alice. He was being scolded, but he liked it.

A smirk crept across his face, and then he smiled. "Alright, Miss Maxwell. My night was awfully bad. How about yours?"

"Mine was good," she replied with an even bigger and brighter smile. Her emerald green eyes sparkled with clear happiness at his response, free from any threats. "Why was yours bad?"

Alexander set his coffee mug down on the tray she was holding and leaned in closer to her. "Why? Can you make tonight better than last night, Kitten?"

His hot breath fanned her face, and she gulped. He was so close, yet the tray acted as a barrier between them.

No matter what she tried to distract herself with, she couldn't help but be aware of his proximity. "Umm..."

"Oh, Alice, it's just a question," he said, moving around her and stopping behind her. He blew air on her neck, causing her to shiver.

His breath on her neck sent shivers down her spine. Resisting Alexander was becoming nearly impossible, and he seemed to be enjoying watching her unravel.

His lips curved into the first genuine smile she had seen from him. He was happy he wasn't a creep for wanting her; she wanted him too, and it was mutual.

"What did you make?" he changed the subject.

Alice looked down at the tray, biting her lip in response to the obvious question but answered anyway. "Toast."

He tilted his head, studying her. "Why are you nervous? I won't bite."

"You tried to kill me."

"Yeah, that's because you didn't listen to me," he defended himself with a shrug.

Alice rolled her eyes, extending the tray toward him. "Here's your breakfast."

"Why did you make breakfast?"

"Just because."

"Why?"

"I wouldn't poison you."

"Yeah, I know that. You're like a little mouse that I can step on," he replied, smiling manically.

"You're behaving like a psychopath."

"Watch your mouth, darling," he warned, still smiling. "You don't want to know how a psychopath can kíll someone."

Alice shook her head, sighing. "You're a huge jerk, you know that, right? I'm trying my best not to see you as the scary monstér that you are, and you're making it hard for me!"

His eyes flickered with hurt, but he blinked it away. He had been called many things before, but not a monstér. He expected her to leave after his statement, but instead, she spat back at him.

"Then, don't!" His yell only seemed to make her angrier, and she groaned loudly. "I never asked you to see me as anything."

"You're a príck."

"What did you call me?" he snapped.

"I said you're a príck."

"Alice!"

"I don't know who or why you're putting up this scary monstér act, but it isn't working on me, so drop it," she snapped, angrily. "Okay, fine. I won't lie; you scare me, but not as much as you'd like."

He smiled. "Maybe I should work on my scary monstér attitude, huh?"

Alice noticed he was teasing her and rolled her eyes. "Jérk."

Jérk? She was right to call him a jérk because he was behaving like one.

His father wouldn't approve of what he was about to do, but he didn't care. He was ready to satisfy his growing desire for this beautiful, angry lady in front of him, even if it meant defying his father.

"Kitten, would you like to come in?"

Alice raised her brows, looking at him questioningly. "What?"

What's happening? She wondered.
