I knew quite well that things won’t go well since the sleeping dog has been woken.
Before Sade could retaliate, I quickly grab her and hold her down. She tried to free herself from my grab, but I held still, she’s a known devil and I knew what she’s capable of.
When she noticed that my grab was strong she bent her head low and bite two of my fingers.
That hurt really bad but I still held on to her, she was burning with anger and her pulse kept rising like a thunderstorm.
” Ay let me go, leave me alone. Just leave me alone ” she said as she struggled to free herself.
” Sade please don’t do it, I’ll explain things to you. Please don’t touch her, it will get back on me ” I said as I hold still.
” okay okay, I’ve heard you, now leave me alone ” she said swiftly.
” ha no I can’t leave, I don’t trust any word that comes out of your mouth right now ” I said then I made to drag her out.
Everywhere as already turn to an abyss, Rose at the other hand kept ranting like a sokoto goat but two guys has already hold her down.
I was slowly dragging Sade out of the club house when she luckily free herself from my grab. And just like captain marvel, she fly with tremedious force at Rose, before I could reach her side, she has already broke Rose nose with a punch, which came bleeding like a tap. As if that was not enough she took a bottle and was about to break it on rose head when I grab her hand.
This time around I didn’t drag her, I carried her off her feet. I should have think of that earlier.
Despite the fact that I’m carrying her, she was still struggling to get freed, but I won’t let that happened.
How we got home that day was unexplainable. I had to lock the door behind the two of us just to prevent her from going back to the club.
She was restless as she kept moving around the room.
“Ay why na, why you do me like this na. See wetin that girl do me na, see all my body with pepper soup, why you no allow me deal with her na ” she let out with anger.
” Sade I’m sorry just calm down first ” I said calmly.
” don’t tell me to calm down. You f--k up jor, imagine that kind of shit na ” she retorted.
” OK let me explain the reason to you, she’s blackmailing me with a sex video of me. I’m scared she might post it on the net. Which might affect my career ” I said and that calm her down a bit.
“is that it? ” she asked.
“Yea, that’s it…doesn’t it mean anything to you? ” I asked cos she feels less concerned.
” Yea it’s nothing to me cos I can get it out of your way. ” she said then she sat on the chair.
“how? ” I questioned immediately.
“you will have to promise me that you will allow me to beat her once the obstacles is out of the way ” she said in a more relaxed way.
No matter how I hate my enemy, receiving beating from sade is something I cannot let to happen. Cos she’s black belt.
I heard to lie to save Rose ass from trouble.
” OK Sade I’ve heard you, but I love her. Please don’t be mean ” I said then she look away.
“there’s a virus file I will give you to send to her, once she open it all the file in her phone will be corrupt. Including the videos and the pictures, she will have to format her phone “she said.
I was happy when I heard that, I felt like hugging her but I knew better of the devil, she might reverse the beating back to me.
The second day, Sade share the virus file with me then I send it to rose with an apology text.
She received it but I’m not sure if she open the file, so i can’t be so sure.
Rose texted me to come over to her place, at first I didn’t want to inform Sade about it, but I later did.
“that’s a good news if she invited you to come. I will just use the opportunity to give her some good beating ” Sade said.
“No naa. Please Abeg no beat her ” I pleaded.
“don’t you know you need me, if she didn’t open the virus file, then I will have to break her phone to settle everything ” she said then I reasoned with her.
“okay… but how will you do that? ” I asked confusedly.
“that one is simple, you will go in first then I will come in after about 10 minutes. Do not lock the door and Make sure that you put her phone in a place that i will see it, then leave the rest to me” she said then she wink at me.
I got no choice than to concur with her.
I got to Rose place and I met her with a plaster on the nose. I pitied her cos I knew another trouble is coming for her.
” hello Rose how are you? ” I asked slowly as I close the door behind me.
“do I look like I’m fine, you see what that b---h did to me, I swear to God, if I see her again I will kill her ” she let out angrily.
I saw her phone on the bed beside her, I picked it up and I saw an XOS wallpaper. She used her picture as her wallpaper before but seeing the XOS wallpaper only means one thing. Which is, the virus worked.
I texted Sade not to come but I knew she wouldn’t listen, just as I was apologizing to Rose, Sade banged in forcefully.
“Eheenn. Owa da bayi! Ay so you lied to me and come right directly to this unhealthy Arachnid? Thunder fire the both of you today ” Sade said then she pick up Rose phone and pieces it on the wall.
Rose shrink back as she hide behind me, I can see that she’s afraid of Sade and basically I’m also afraid of her.
She brought out a Pepsi bottle from her bag and she was looking fierce with it.
“Sade please don’t do this, drop the bottle, it dangerous ” I pleaded.
” Ay please comot let me break this bottle on her head ” she said.
“ha she will die, please don’t kill her ” I found myself begging her .
” see Rose Abi wetin dey call your name, if I see you with ay again, that will be your end. Understood? ” she shouted and that caught me trembling.
“yes yes yes I’ve… Heard you ” Rose said in a trembling voice.
” Oya Ay let go home ” Sade said then she drag me away from the room.
Immediately that we are a miles away from Rose house, I paused then I looked at Sade in the eyes.
“would you have hit the bottle on her head? ” I threw out.
“of cos na. Me I be Lagos girl, I no send any body ” she replied.
“but that will be cruel ” I let out slowly.
” see this mumu ooo, don’t you know that it’s an away match, I need to prepare myself very well for any kind of action. Thank God she corporate, if not, trust me na ay, I go break the bottle on your own head then use the broken bottle to design her body ” she said and then she bounce away.
I thought for a while, how do I get along with her?
We returned back home to take a nap when I received a call from an unknown number.
Me : hello who am I on to?.
Nkechi : it’s me nkechi
Me : oh… How are you big head
Nkechi : I’m fine and you.
Me : I’m okay.
Nkechi : so you think that you can run away from me.
Me : that’s funny, run away? Do you call returning back home as run away.
Nkechi : whatever. I know you will be wondering how I got your number like that.
Me: I don’t know. You can get it anywhere.
Nkechi : Hmmmm. Anyway I got it from my mom.
Me: I thought as much, she’s the only one that have it. How’s Angelina.
Nkechi : she’s great, she’s having her honey moon.
Me: Wao that’s so lovely.
Nkechi : I miss you Ay.
Me : I miss eating the snake meat with you girls.
Nkechi : Yea, that reminds me, about the snake…i hope you know it’s wrong for you to kill it and also it’s a taboo for you to eat it.
Me :Why are we still alive if it a taboo. We supposed to be dead now or be seeing the ghost of a snake around. Why ain’t we experiencing anything evil.
Nkechi : I don’t know ooo.
Me : let me tell you something you don’t know. I’m a science student so I don’t believe in superstition. I’m a Nigerian so I believe in superstition. The saying that killing and eating some species of snake is a taboo doesn’t really goes well with me. Yes is a taboo but history are made by those who broke the rules. The saying that it a taboo is a planted fear engulfed in everyone of you. That snake i killed wasn’t a taboo, it’s a pet. And I know one when I see it.
Nkechi : and you killed it without any fear. You are brave ooo.
Me : it’s not about being brave. Everything is experience. ..
Nkechi :oh really?
Me : Yea… Except for the big anaconda that I’m yet to see in my life, every snake that came in my way usually don’t survive it. Except for one.
Nkechi :which is?
Me : the two headed snake.
Nkechi : two headed snake? I’ve never heard of that before.
Me : it’s a rare species, I saw it only once, it doesn’t have a tail. It got two heads, insted of having a tail it got another head.
Nkechi : Wao that’s terrible.
Me : it’s terrible cos I was scared. It’s something I’ve never see before.
Nkechi : so the snake got away?
Me: not without a chase.
Nkechi : you mean you still attack the snake?
Me :yes…it was my past that attacked it. Before I was born, my parents abducted a girl. Two years after the abduction, I was born. We were playing together in the compound when a snake entered and bite her. There was no one at home and she died before my parents return back from work. It a childhood memory that will hurt forever as long as there’s still snake in this world. So no one can tell me a snake is a taboo. I don’t buy that shit.
Nkechi : so that’s the reason why you killed our snake.
Me : maybe but not really, I killed your snake because it trespassed. And besides this taboo of a thing makes me laugh.
Nkechi : why did you say so?
Me : there’s a village in Ondo state that they don’t eat okete (rodent )
Nkechi : so what’s with okete?
Me: I followed some of my friends studying wild life in federal university of technology Akure to a field trip to a village in Ondo state. On our arrival we met with the rulers and they gave us some rules to abide, which includes not killing this okete (rodent). We agreed then we went to our camp.
The annoying part was when we saw this okete rodent moving around peacefully like a house fowl. And from where I came from, we don’t see okete at the broad daylight, they will say it a taboo or something. But these okete broke their own rules just because they are free and no one is killing them. They were moving around freely and no one dare touch them due to the fact that they tagged them taboo.
There’s an igbo boy among us, his name is okeke. He got so angry with this rodent that he accidentally trow a stone at one of this rodent which fell dead. We all stop dead on our spot as we look at okeke. We observed him for a while and since nothing bad happened to him. We decided to go for okete hunt.
That day we killed up to 30 rodent, we cooked it, we fry some we even smoke Part of it. After we are done preparing the meat for our taste. The problem of who to eat first later became an issue. We were all scared of eating the meat but after a while we decided to fast and pray from 6 to 6. Then we use the okete meat to break the fast. F--k taboo.
Nkechi : like seriously?
Me : Yea, see if your dad buy another snake. Kill it!
Nkechi : no I’m not you, I can’t kill a snake.
Me : well anyway it your choice.
Nkechi : Ay what can I do to win you.
Me: nothing.
Nkechi : Hmmn please na. I love you for real.
Me: let put love aside for now.
Nkechi : Hmmm can I come visit you?
Me : my exam is close. Maybe some other time.
Nkechi : ouch.
Me : Yea, I got to go. Bye bye.
All the while I was on call, Sade was in the bathroom showering. Just as I ended the call, she came out with towel tied on. I was still planning to excuse her when she suddenly drop her towel down.
“what the f--k? Big head you could have tell me to excuse you before dropping those OMG” I screamed out.
” wetin dey do you? I resemble those girls wey dey trip for you ni. Ogbeni close your eyes I wan change pant ” she said then she bend low to search for something in her bag.
” Lobatan of Mexico, where I find you self ” I muttered as I turn my head away.
“Ehen, make I teach you new thing new self. You know how ladies wear menstrual pad? ” she asked.
” what? ” I spatted .
“turn around, let me teach you. It’s very simple, you will just place the pad on the down part of the pant then you’ll wear it up with the pant. It’s very… ”
“just shut up ” I cut in.
” let go visit one of your girlfriend na” she said after she was done wearing her clothes.
“let go visit Ruth then, it been a while I saw her ” I muttered in response.
” hope she will cook for us sha cos amala dey hungry me…”
“Yea she will, go get your bag and let’s go ” I cut in.
We went to Ruth place and she welcomed us warmly. We stayed at her place till 5 pm in the evening before returning back to my place.
On our way back home, I saw Mercy and her boyfriend moving into a beer house.
I wanted to ignore them but I found myself telling Sade.
“Sade look, that’s the girl I… I said… The one that make a fool of me ” I muttered out with a little shame.
“oh really, let go have some chat with them ” Sade said happily but I declined her.
“hell No, we are just going home ” I dragged her home that day cos I knew her intentions are always hazardous.
The following day, I went to have a group reading with my friends, last Don and Apple Boy.
I took Sade along since she said she can’t be alone at home. They’ve already know Sade before, let me say they’ve heard of her but they’ve never met her.
While we are reading, Sade was so calm and silent like a bush mole and apple boy kept disturbing me from seconds to seconds saying I should give him Sade package.
“Ogbeni it can’t work don’t you get it, she’s not your type ” I replied with annoyance back at apple boy.
” don’t tell me it won’t work, she carry fire for p---y? ” he said and that got me more annoyed.
“taiwo, se dey use woman swear for you ni? We get exam and all you are thinking is about p---y. Aweedy leave him let him go follow her talk ” last Don said and then I shrugged my shoulders.
We left him to go speak with Sade while we continue reading our book.
” hello beautiful, Emm.. My name is taiwo and you can call me apple boy. I want us to have a little chat. See I just love the way I’m looking at you. You look like the queen of England, if you don’t mind can we find a privacy outside to chat for some minutes ” apple boy said in his sweetest voice.
” I’m sorry but I do mind. I know you very well, I know that you are a womanizer but I won’t fall for your cheep charm. If I were you, I’ll return back to my friends and continue reading. Excuse me I got candy crush to complete. ” she said then she continue pressing her phone.
Apple boy looked back at us and we were like “we told you didn’t we? ”
“you know what Sade, my friend there Aweedy will be a motivation for me. I knew the hell he went through before he can win Adesewa over. Don’t think I’ll give up on you. I’ll definitely come back for you. But for now, I’ll let you be” he said then he moved back to us. Last Don and I were speechless we don’t even know the kind of comment to give on it. So we just let it roll.
We spent almost all the day indoor reading away our ass, when the evening arrived we decided we go chill out a little.
We were on the way to get a suya when a call from Aduke my facebook friend came in.
Me: hello Aduke
Aduke : don’t greet me ooo, you just forgot someone.
Me : I’m sorry… I’m so busy lately.
Aduke :anyway since I mean nothing to you, how can you even remember me.
Me : I said I’m sorry, what other thing do you want me to say?
Aduke :hmmm how are you anyway.
Me : I’m okay, I hope you are good.
Aduke : I just dey okay jare. How are your wives.
Me : incredibly great. How are your’s?
Aduke : the ones you gave me?
Me :No the ones that came from nature
Aduke :that is funny.
Me: Abi na.
Aduke : I think I miss you
Me :Awwnn I miss you more hon
Aduke : you miss me and you can’t call.
Me :arggh there she goes again
Aduke : Hmmm whatever, I just say I should hear from you.
Me : thanks for calling, I’ll return the call when I miss you more. Bye bye.
By the time I was done calling, we were already at the suya spot and Sade was already selecting the suya to buy.
A car stopped behind us, but I didn’t care to look back, I was so busy selecting the good stick of suya with Sade but my friends did look back.
I heard apple boy whistling like a Chinese sparrow then he whispered into my ear.
” Aweedy see that bae behind us, the girl fine die, just use style turn and see for yourself ”
I did as he said, I turned backward but only to see mercy standing beside her boyfriend Thompson.
“holy shit! ” I muttered as I saw her.
” oko Adesewa it’s been a while. ” she said as she smile ar me.
” Yea… Thank you mercy ” I muttered slowly.
“Awwn now it’s mercy? I missed you calling me Aduke, did I offend you? ” she asked and that was when Sade came in.
” Ay is this the Thompson that brag about buying original clothes or this is another one ” Sade said as she point at Thompson and then blink annoyingly at Mercy.
Everything was like a movie in front of apple boy and last Don cos they didn’t know anything.
I was still thinking of how to calm Sade down when Thompson replied her.
“well I can see that he introduced me well to you. I’m sorry who are you? another cheep slot? ” he said and that was where he hit it wrong.
” absolutely not. It hurt me to see that you have no brain. I look at you I see a moron driving his father car like his own. You see this guy here Aweedy, he’s my boss. He works for his money and doesn’t rely on his father money for living. Perhaps you are a G-guy, but where my man here will be chilling with his wine infront of EFCC, you will be shaking like a winter fowl. And to you, Ms finest, Looking at your pretty face, I will think you are a better person but you are worst. You are just a fool like your boyfriend. Small amount of lakaye(sense) is not in your head. If you think you will find happiness with this tadpole. All you will ever find is sorrow ” Sade said and mercy run out of the scene with tears running down her face.
“how dare you speak to my girlfriend like that ” Thompson fired out as he point his finger at Sade.
” you smoke shit for head ni? Who are you pointing finger to. Point that finger to me again and I’ll make sure that you won’t use it again” Sade flamed back.
“what will you do! ” Thompson let out in anger as he move closer to Sade.
“hey young man, you move a step closer. And I’ll see that you won’t walk out of here ” I said then I move in front of Sade.
” and what will you do if I move a step !” he said in furry.
“it’s not what will he do, it’s what will we do ” apple boy said then he move in front of me with last Don beside him.
“Ehen, so you have body guard Abi? I will come back for you ” he said then he began moving slowly back to his car in a reverse way.
” see when I come back, I will deal with all of you. Including that b---h. F--k you. I will deal with you all ” he ranted.
“Ay Abeg comot make I go break his jaw. He too dey make mouth ” Sade said as she made to run after Thompson, but Thompson quickly enter his car and zoom off.
“you for wait make I dismantle your teeth. Anopheles” Sade spatted.
we returned back home like man city with the EPL cup. We were all laughing at the scene when I got a call from a strange number.
Me : hello
Shukurah : hi it’s me Shukurah.
Me : sorry do I know you?
Shukurah : yes you did. I’m mercy friend.
Me : oh it you, check your phone I guess you wanted to call baba dudu.
Shukurah :No the call is for you.
Me : Ehen so what up.
Shukurah :how can you be so wicked like that.
Me : wicked? I don’t get you.
Shukurah : what did mercy did to receive such a horrible thing from you.
Me : a horrible thing? Horrible is when she played me like a slave with her boyfriend.
Shukurah :i don’t understand you.
Me : how will you understand since you are also aware of the shit.
Shukurah : I don’t get you.
Me : both of you should stop pretending as if you don’t know what I’m saying.
Shukurah : mercy is hurt, she’s been crying since.
Me : and what makes you think I care.
Shukurah : I thought you care. You were the only male friend she told me that do care about her.
Me : I don’t buy that shit.
Shukurah : how can you be so heartless.
Me : I’m not heartless, I have a heart. I felt hurt when she played me with her boyfriend too. So she should feel thesame.
Shukurah : what did you mean by she played you?
Me : I heard the truth from his boyfriend. How they planned together to use my as a bus driver. It’s absurd.
Shukurah : oh no. If Thompson told you this, it a pure lie.
Me : what do you mean?
Shukurah : every word from that bastard is a lie.
Me : oh.. Bastard?
Shukurah :yea I mean Thompson.
Me :you mean he lied to me .
Shukurah : 100%
Me:shit !!how’s Aduke?
Shukurah : She’s at my place but she’s hurt.
Me : where is your place.?
Shukurah :Your friend segzy know my place but I won’t advice you to come. You are the last person she will want to see now.
Me : oh… Just Help me to tell her that I’m sorry.
Shukurah :i will bye bye.
I ended the call then I face Sade.
“Sade we hit the wrong target, she was innocent. She didn’t do what that idiot said she did. It was all his ideas, and they were lies ” I muttered slowly to Sade.
“oh you mean… Shit!. OK I’ll make things right. Where can I find her ” she asked.
” how do you want to make things right? ” I asked.
” that’s my problem just tell me where to find her ” she replied then I shrugged my shoulders.
I contacted baba dudu and he gave me Shukurah address.
I gave the address to Sade and she went out that night. I waited for her to come back that night but she didn’t.
I couldn’t go home that night so I spent the night at my friends place.
Early morning the following day, we heard a knock on the door. The 3 of us felt lazy to stand up but the knocking seems to be going harder by the seconds so I slowly stand up and head for the door.
I opened the door to see Thompson and some groups of guys harmed with cutlass.
“holy shit! ” I muttered as I quickly jam back the door.
