[Military Base, Male Barracks]

Time is 10pm, and snowflakes is pouring aggressively from the pitch black sky, adding to the sinister vibes of the night.

The barracks is still awake with Privates slacking with their phones in the middle of their eager palms.

Morgan and Quentin's video has been flagged down from the telegram group, so this is not even about the video. This is about crazy bets.

Privates are betting for the WIN and the FAILURE of the squad.

And at the moment, the ones who placed their bets on the squad failure are more than the ones who bet on them to win.

Paine is the leader of the bet—the one who created the poll, and as he watched the FAILURE line grow longer than the WIN, he grinned out in the busy corridor.

"Is that how much y'all hate the squad? C'mon, they might actually win against Usman" he said, removing his fancy glasses.

He's surrounded by the guys he sees as his gees.

"Win? That's never happening. I'm sure the president's mansion is burning with the birthday guests as we speak. Nine squad members went for the mission, right? I bet only three of them will come back, and those three will be; Snowman, Sergeant Kash, and maybe Abbey. The rest are dying" a goatee-beard guy said, and Paine led the laughter that erupted afterwards.

He's very sure the mission will go bad, especially with Abbey who's gonna ruin it.

"I bet on WIN" someone said from the end of the hallway, and Paine strolled there to see Skye, leaning on the wall like a gecko.

"WIN? Cos your girlfriend April is in the squad? Sorry, bro. She's dying in that mission" Paine said confidently, his grin coming alive again.

"WIN" Skye repeated.

"Wait...are you this cocky because of the promotion ceremony announcement? You think you're gonna get promoted? Dream on, that promotion is for someone unexpected and it's definitely not you" Paine glared.

"Now I know why you and Abbey are friends. You both share a brain, sadly" Skye replied simply, walking down the hall.

"It's a win by the way! The squad is winning, and someone's getting electrocuted" he said, going down the staircase.

"Leech" Paine said hatefully, then he raised his phone high.

"Place your bet for the failure of Maelstrom squad!!" He shouted, and the betting resumed immediately.

The hallway turned rowdier.

[Female Barracks]

The environment is calm, compared to the males.

And that's because Sierra isn't around—she's at Allegra's suite.

Morgan and Stormy are unavailable too.

Morgan is in her room, face glued into her pillow as the murmurs of the ladies hit her ears.

"But damn, her hole is wide in that video"

"She's probably an addict"

"Is she really gonna be facing the panel? I have a feeling she's gonna be stepped down"

"But who the hell posted the video?"

"The base HackLord is still trying to track the account, but there's no trace. Must be a professional"

Morgan pressed her face harder into the pillow, trying to block out the noises, but it seems impossible.

Since she got the room-trap order from the disciplinary board yesterday, she has been on this bed, unable to look up nor talk to anyone.

She's still trying Quentin's line, but he's still not picking. That even worsened everything.

The duvet suddenly pulled away from her, and she gasped, but when she saw it's Stormy, she relaxed.

"Stormy" she mumbled, sitting up.

Stormy was supposed to go for the mission with the squad, but she had to fake stomachache just to stay back with Morgan.

Her sharp eyes moved to the ladies around, and she glared.

"Morgan isn't the one in the video, it was edited! So shut up with the gossips. Hypocrites!"

The ladies rolled eyes before turning away, then Stormy faced the door.

"Come on in" she said.

Five ladies from five other rooms came in, and Morgan came down from her bunk, looking confused.

"What's going on, Stormy?"

"Tomorrow at the panel, we need people to testify against Teal and strengthen our defense, so I got them. I had to bribe them with money though, you'll have to pay me back" Stormy explained, and Morgan hugged her immediately.

Very tight that Stormy laughed.

"You're the best friend ever, thank you Stormy."

[Sergeant Kash's Suite]

Cassie arrived like nothing happened, and she quickly swallowed more birth control pills.

She was already on it before she went for Axel's d+ck, but just to be safe, she swallowed three more pills, and after transporting it down her throat with water, she sat on the couch, looking as innocent as before.

Thankfully, she showered at Axel's unit before coming back, so the smell of s+x is out of her skin, but she could still feel the huge swell between her legs.

It's stinging so bad, so she got a small hand fan and began blowing the middle of her legs, hanging her neck on the backrest of the couch as the fan calmed her core.

Axel f+cked her on the wall and on the bare ground. He didn't enter the bedroom with her or anything, and that's somehow disturbing, but she decided not to think about it.

Her phone buzzed beside her, and she picked it up.

The screen brightened her face as she read Axel's text.

Axel: Oh Cass, I feel like going inside you again right now, it's crazy. Next time, I'm f+çkin you in your matrimonial bed, remember that.

After she finished reading, another buzz hit her screen, and she clicked on it to see a million euros from him.

One million euros in her account at a time? She has never even had 300 thousand before, and now a million?

Her heart leapt, and she smiled before she knew it, hugging the phone to her chest.

"Shannon, i'm finally starting to taste millions. Finally."

[Athens City Road]

Right from the first minute Four drove out of the president's mansion, he knew something was wrong with his car, but he was determined to drive this death trap to a bushy area so it won't blow up with him and kill people in the streets.

The success of this mission lies on weather or not he's able to bring this car to a suitable place, so he kept driving.

Even when the car kept leaping forward and the deflated tire kept scratching the tar.

He kept driving.

Even when the wheel began trying to roll out of his hold and the car smashed on a bridge rail, causing his head to slam on the car window.

Blood trickled down his temple, but...

He kept driving.

Right now, he has no control of the car anymore. The steering, brakes, gear aren't listening to his grab, but he didn't stop.

From hindsight, he could see the bustling, bright streets of Athens.

There are colourful fireworks in the sky from a children's amusement park, people strolling the road and searching for peace with their headphones on. Businessmen and women driving home, happy people dancing in the city square.

One mistake from him will take him and everyone of them. Right now, the safety of this city is in his hands.

It might be just one car, but there are four human bombs with him in the trunk, and if they blow up, the explosion will go far and eat people like food in their homes.

Human bombs are insane.

But then...the bombs aren't active yet, so there's still time to find a place.

His grip turned sharper than guillotine blade as he tried taking control of the car again, but the deflated car tire bursted completely, going flat and causing the car to swerve aside on its own.

Four's head slammed on the second window, and that window shattered. One of the small piece of glass entered his second temple, and blood pumped again.

That instant, the human bombs at the car trunk got activated, and their countdown started at 3 minutes.

3 fuckin minutes!

He could see the red numbers through their wrists, so his palms nearly tore into the steering as he held it tighter than life.

He began controlling the car with a bull strength he has no idea where it came from.

But then...the stereo came on on its own, beeping blood-red

"You're trying too hard, Four." Usman's sick voice boomed like a detonation.

That instant, Four's head drummed with a venomous cadence of darkness.

How the f+ck did Usman hack into his car?

"I must commend you for successfully taking my human bombs out of the president's mansion, but now that they're out, why not let the car blow up in the streets and kill as many citizens as possible? It'd be a thrilling view to see plenty human barbeques, right?" Usman continued, his tone turning sicker inside the clattering stereo.

By now, the timer is at 2, so Four gave no attention to his voice.

"Does anyone know the reason you stayed indoors for nineteen long years? Does anyone know the huge dark secret you'd gatekeep with your life?" Usman's voice came again, trying hard to distract him.

Four turned the steering around, driving off the bridge into a silent street with bloody perturbed face.

"Oh I guess I'm your only secret keeper, isn't that why you're so eager to catch and kill me? But yunno what? You're my marionette... I'm the one who can sew you in place. That one dark sinful string in your head, I'm the only one who knows how to mess with it and pull it off!!" Usman yelled, laughing with mock.

His laughter nearly broke the stereo to pieces with it's manic depth.

It's 1 minute left on the bomb timer right now, and Four isn't even hearing him anymore.

He already fell into abyss, the need to drive this car off a cliff is the only sound dwelling in his head.

Green trees and leaves whip past his broken windows like lingering shadows, and the dark sky did nothing to ease the darkness in his chest as he drove...

Over stones and shrubs.

Over pebbles and stunts.

Over snow and sand.

"And I'll never fail to mention your beautiful wife...i love her" Usman's voice filtered out like a curse again.

The car finally grinded to a pointe halt atop a tall stone on the edge of the baseless cliff.

By now, it's only 3 seconds left.

Four crashed out of the car with a dangerous jump, and he landed on stones before the car fell off the cliff.

He stood to his feet, running out of the place with insane speed cos immediately the car crashed, the human bombs exploded.

Despite the fact that the car already fell off the cliff, the explosion force shook the grounds, mountains and rocks around that area, and they started sinking in a fast landslide.

It's an earthquake.

Four had to add to his run as the grounds behind him sank with collosal brutality.

The more he ran, the more the grounds sank, and it didn't stop till he was almost out of the forest.

Thanks to the fact that there are enough mountains and rocks in the area plus, the cliff.

The poor elements took it all.

By the time Four jumped out of the forest, he's already a moving mad man with his scattered hair and tattered clothes.

Bloody face and bruised skin.

Long, hot breaths sieved out of his starved nostrils, and he felt his head hollowing as if the whole component vanished with the bomb blast.

He was losing it completely as he stood there, and his breaths even turned shallower and needier.

He dipped his veiny hand into his pocket, bringing out the big dipper painting. He unfolded it.

He takes it everywhere actually.

And as he stared at the big dipper, his head regained normalcy, and his body began calming.

It's like lamb blood to his alter. Sacrifice to his starving god.

He stared for unhealthy minutes before regaining his slipping sanity, and then government cars began arriving with safety officers and protection agents.

And cops.

In a minute, the place became swamped with cars, and as everyone watched the area of the sinking earth and the landslides and the angrily burning fire at the bombed cliff, the shocks on their faces was raw.

And there's also raw respect on their faces as they stared at Four who looks like the hero of the night.

Soon, reporters and prestigious TV stations arrived...

"Don't photograph me. Do not get your cameras on my face. And I'm not answering questions" He warned with a cold piercing glare as he walked away, but even as he walked, the stubborn reporters still photographed his back view.

An ambulance was called for him, but he refused to enter.

[President's Mansion]

Teal's gun is still inside Abbey's mouth, and his mouth is closed on the barrel. His eyes are closed too.

It's been twenty minutes, and hope is thinning. No one knows what's coming next.

Sergeant Kash already gave up on contacting Four, and now he has decided to do the wait together with the rest for good news.

"Drop the gun at least, Abbey isn't staying alive after this, we all know. Why are you even being protective of Snowman when you don't even like him?" April said.

Teal faced her, her eyes glaring.

"Protective of him? You think this is an husband and wife shit? No, f+ck that. I don't like him, but if he dies in that car, then this mission would be recorded as fail cos he'd become the casualty. After what happened in the last mission, you should understand why I'm being like this. We need to win this one" she said.

April couldn't talk back afterwards.

"Back!!" Brent ran into the mansion happily, and Rook smiled widely.

Kash smiled too, nodding.

"You came back"

"Yes I did, thanks for trusting me sir!" Brent saluted, and Shannon laughed as Rook gave him a hug.

"The explosion wasn't that bad. I drove for a minute and located a cocoa plantation down the lane, so I drove in and jumped out. The car blew up like fireworks and I was surprised." Brent explained.

Kash suddenly gasped from his side, and April joined him cos he's currently staring at his phone screen.

The news of the sinking explosion at the cliff is all-over the TVs and radios, even in the streets.

April read out the headlines.

"Greece citizens are in jubilation tonight as Usman The Beast failed for the first time in history"

"The blast was destructive, imagine that happening in the streets. I bet half of Greece population would have died tonight"

"Who's the hero of the night?"

"Only his side profile and back view was sighted. He blatantly refused recognition, but he's an army"

When Kash and April saw the back view, their smiles widened.

"Yes!!! He made it! We made it!!!" April jumped.

"We did?" Rook and Shannon chorused.

"Yes!!!" April shouted, and Teal had to drop her gun and hug Brent happily.

Rook, Shannon and April joined the hug too, everyone jumping in sync as their arms interlinked.

Kash just watched them from afar with a grin, and he happily dialled Cassie's line.

"Baby I saw the news! The base is on fire right now people are singing praises of Maelstrom squad!!" Cassie shouted.

"We did it, thanks to Snowman. Now you know why I say he's my role model" Kash chuckled.

"Gosh, this calls for celebration! The General is so proud of y'all!" Cassie shouted again.

"Of course he is" Kash smiled.

Abbey took the opportunity of their jubilations and tried running out the gate, but Brent was fast to notice him.

He took his rifle and shot Abbey in the arm.

"Shitty!!!" Abbey groaned, falling on his knees.

"You fell on me at the rooftop on purpose, didn't you?" Brent placed the barrel on his head as he bled

"He also sabotaged Snowman's car" Shannon said.

"Oh good, what does the betrayal rule in the rulebook say?" Brent turned back.

"Death by electrocution" Rook and Shannon chorused.

"Heard that?" Brent smirked at Abbey.

"I didn't do it on my own!!" Abbey cried, clutching his bleeding arm.

"You're working for who then?" Kash came forward.

Before Abbey could start talking, Rook left them and went back to the powerhouse.

Theo is still there.

He's sitting by the wall, on the ground, and his back is on the wall, knees raised up with his arms wrapped around it.

He looks like a lost hopeless child in that position.

Rook went closer, squatting in front of him with an elbow on his knee.

"We won" he said, but that didn't make Theo look up.

"No casualties" he added.

Theo remained unmoved.

Rook gave him two additional minutes, and when he still didn't talk, he stood.

He already took the first step away from him before Theo grabbed his hand, quickly.

Rook turned back, his eyes meeting Theo's puppy ones.

"I could have been the casualty if you didn't come in and shoot the terrorist. Thank you" he said.

Rook squatted back.

"Hand tremor?" He asked.

Theo nodded shortly.

"Then why are you in the military?" Rook asked.

"I need to kill Usman with my own hands" Theo replied, and Rook blinked slowly.

"A personal grudge? But i don't see it materializing with your shaky hands. You're endangering your own life!" He said.

Theo's grip on him became tighter.

"No no...I was able to control the tremor during our first mission, i was only unlucky that it appeared today. It doesn't come all the time so I can definitely manage it. Please don't tell the higher ups, especially Snowman. I need to stay in the military till Usman dies by my hand" he said desperately, shaking his head.

"I'm not gonna tell anyone, I'm not a snitch. It's your secret, not mine... Theodore" Rook replied, and Theo smiling just faintly.

"You called my full name again"

Rook quickly took his arm from him and stood straight.

"Let's go, others are waiting" he said.

With a nod, Theo stood and followed Rook outside, the tension still as thick as before.

On getting outside, Abbey is still being interrogated by Kash, but he's not mentioning any name.

He just kept saying he didn't do it intentionally.

President Spyros and Xanthe finally came out of the mansion, and everyone of them faced him.

"No no...I don't need your salutations tonight, I should be the one doing it" President Spyros said proudly.

They all beamed, except Abbey who's still crying on his knees.

"Thank you, I'm proud of y'all. This is not the end of Usman's attacks, but at least...we won this time, and I'll mandate Pedro to treat y'all to a good dinner" President Spyros said.

"Yes!!" Brent and Shannon shouted and stuck hands.

All these while, Xanthe's glance is on Teal, and he's smiling.

When Teal's eyes met him, she gave him an awkward smile before looking away.

President Spyros came closer, stopping in front of Teal.

She quickly bowed her head.

"I'm inviting you to a separate dinner... tomorrow" he said.

"Sir?" Teal looked up to meet his smile.

"A dinner with I and my son" he said, and Xanthe also came closer.

"I know you're in the base, and getting nice female dresses can be stressful, so you don't have to worry about that. Xanthe will send you a dress and a chauffeur tomorrow" President Spyros said, sliding a white card into Teal's palm.

Her bloody gloves are gone, so her palms are bare for the first time.

Teal opened the card, and when she saw the diner place name, her eyes widened.

It's one of the largest diner in this country which only receives exclusive VVIPs, and it's especially for potential lovers.

Legend has it that if you enter the diner with a man for a date, there's 99 percent possibility that you'd end up with him forever.

Is the president asking her out on a date on behalf of his son?

The urge to say she's betrothed nipped at her tongue, but would it not be rude to turn down the president?

Also, she doesn't like Four. There's no damn reason to like him.

His parents only made a shady deal with her parents to give her to him against her own will, so this might as well be a way to shake Four away.

"It's my pleasure, Mr. President sir" she smiled, tucking the card in her dress pocket.

"Yes!" Xanthe sounded, and President Spyros smiled.

The mansion received the presence of someone else, and they all twisted around to witness it.

Four.

He's just returning. The blood on his face is dried, and his fingers look inert by his sides like a corpse.

His eyes are emptier than they usually look, and they're so overly grim. The grimness is contagious.

"Master Sergeant" Kash muttered.

Teal strawed in a breath, watching him with bobbing dry throat.

Is he ok? He looks mad.

President Spyros walked to him and engulfed him a welcoming hug.

"You did well" he said softly, and Four just stood still like the statue of Zeus. He didn't hug back.

His mood is too sour for that.

His eyes met with Abbey's who's still on his knees.

"I swear it wasn't intentional! I didn't do it intentionally!!" Abbey resumed crying.

"He messed with the tyre" Kash reported after President pulled away from Four.

Four walked slowly to Abbey, each step a promise of pain and anguish. A knock of chaos and anarchy.

He crouched in front of him, the gloominess in his eyes enough to drown the feeble.

"You're your family's second child, and you have two juniors, but all your siblings and parents died during an epidemi in your hometown. You only just moved to Kalynda before you enlisted in the military to get stronger, but too bad you didn't last" he muttered like a death's messenger.

The others just stared in silence, including the president.

"No no ... No it wasn't intentional!! It wasn't intentional!!" Abbey cried, seeing his own death in Four's eyes.

"You know what's funny? I don't want you to tell me who sent you cos I know who, but the fact that you were bold enough to take the offer to betray me? I'll kill you" Four said.

His eyes became two dark pools, devoid of any light.

Abbey fell on all fours, holding his legs as he begged like a pauper, but there's no pleading with this one.

His death has been signed.

--

The drive back to the base was ceremonial.

President Spyros provided new cars for them, he even replaced Four's Hyundai but he choose to ride in the long bus with the others.

The Privates kept singing victorious chants throughout the drive.

It's one of the president's guards who drove, so they're all free at the middle.

Abbey is tied up on the floor with plastered mouth and knotted body.

Kash is sitting beside Four at the back of the bus, and he looks genuinely worried as he kept peeking at Four.

Four's eyes are on only one person in the bus—Teal.

But he's vaguely aware that Kash is looking at him.

"If you stare any deeper, you'd bore holes in me" he said, his eyes still hooked on the tall lady.

"We should make a detour at an hospital, the wounds on your temples look serious" Kash replied.

"I've never allowed nurses or doctors touch me since I grew up, and that's not gonna change tonight" Four dryly said.

"Then we can just go to the hospital and I'll take a kit and treat you myself" Kash said.

"Still no, I've never allowed anyone touch my wounds too. They're sacred, mine to tend to" Four replied, Usman's words from the stereo hitting his nerve cords.

"But are you for real ok? Your eyes are...a little... different" Kash asked carefully.

"Stop worrying, Graham" Four replied with his surname, and Kash smiled.

"I'm just realizing you love calling people by their surnames"

Four didn't reply to that.

His eyes just stayed on the one person he's staring at, and when Teal finally noticed he's staring, she went still.

She's barefoot cos she left her shoes at the president's mansion, and there are small cuts on her feet which she got from the fight with the terrorist earlier.

Four stared shortly at the cuts, then he rolled the eyes up to her face.

She was dancing nonsense with Shannon before, so she continued her dance without minding his eyes.

Four's eyes went shut.

The bus drove into the base at 12am midnight, and the jubilations resumed with a brimming swing.

General Pedro and Yulia are waiting at the field to welcome them. Cassie is waiting too with the multitude of armies.

Axel looks like frozen food from where he's standing at. His whole life came crumbling.

Paine and his group of FAILURE bet mates are wide-mouthed.

Stormy came out to watch too, and she's just as gobsmacked.

Skye's is nodding with a small smile.

Sierra began fawning when she saw Four's bloody face.

"How can a man look this hot with blood on his face? Geez, he's all I need. Can't wait to climb up above him" she said joyously.

Allegra is neither happy nor sad.

She's friends with Sierra who's team Four.

And at the same time...

She's a girlfriend to Axel who's against Four.

She doesn't even know how to feel.

"Welcome back, son" General Pedro said brightly as Four stepped out of the bus.

"I knew you'd do it, giant spider." Yulia beamed, but Four looks like he's still not in the mood of appreciation.

Abbey was dragged down from the bus, and Axel froze.

Paine froze, too.

Dead silence enveloped the field as Four singlehandedly dragged Abbey's body up the podium.

Even General Pedro had to join the onlookers with Yulia.

Of course, squad leaders have the right to punish and kill betrayers, it's in the rulebook.

"I knew it, knew someone would get electrocuted" Skye muttered.

"This podium is where we took the oath together, and that field is where your hands touched the rulebooks for the first time." Four's unforgiving voice came from the podium, seeping like phantom ants under the skins of everyone including Teal.

"This same podium is the place where executions takes place to serve as a deterrent to you all. This is different from all military bases you might have heard about. We kill bastards and eradicate lowlifes. Annihilation of space-wasters is the law—inside or outside these walls. The reward for betrayal is death!" Four pronounced.

Then he pressed a red switch on the podium pillar.

Immediately he did, a round space opened on the marble floor, and a chair rolled up—the electrocution chair.

Abbey was made to sit on it, and the cap was even strapped on his head.

He cried harder, shaking his head, but he couldn't kick cos his legs and hands are tied.

"It wasn't intentional!!! It wasn't intentional!!!!"

His cries is the only sound in the silent place, and Paine shook than most of all the Privates.

Why is Abbey not saying Axel's name? Why is he refusing to talk?

Paine was about to scream the truth when his phone chimed with a message from an unknown number.

Unknown: You talk, you're dead!

It's definitely from Axel.

Paine looked sidewards at Axel in the crowd, and he shivered when their eyes met.

Four pressed the ON button for the electrocuting chair, and the sufferings started immediately.

Abbey's body began shaking on the chair, the sight hard to watch.

His limbs flailed wildly, tendons struggling in his skin as the electric current pulsed through him.

His face contorted, lips pulled back in an agonizing snarl, and his eyes bulged from their sockets.

The chair rattled and trembled under him, threatening to topple over as his body thrashed about like a puppet on a string

His tongue is protruding as his fingers and legs stretched like rubbers.

Four watched with zero humanity.

The rest of the army watched with hung mouths, especially Paine who's crying like mad.

"Well-deserved" Yulia muttered.

General Pedro was silent, but the ringing of his phone took him out of the field.

It's the president calling, so he went far to pick.

Teal's eyes are on Four, and she wondered just how...

How he could kill without batting a lid. Abbey deserved to die, but still.

Four looks mad different right now.

He has always been unfeeling, but it's extra tonight.

It's like the taste of Abbey's betrayal poisoned him, and she saw sheer satisfaction on his face as Abbey stopped struggling on the chair.

He drew his last breaths, and his body went limp.

Paine sat on the ground, resuming his bloody tears. The silence got thicker, and when Four made to go down the podium, his eyes felt dizzy suddenly, and he stopped walking to steady himself.

He lost much blood from his wounded temples, and the bomb blast affected his ears. It's definitely the cause of this sudden dizziness.

He needs treatment, so much.

Sierra and Kash noticed his stillness at the same time, but Sierra was quicker to climb up the podium.

"Four! Are you ok?" She tried touching him, but he brushed his arm away before she could touch.

She looked up at his face. "Four?"

"Don't touch me"

Sierra's eyes snapped, and she crashed.

"I can't touch you as your sister, but you actually touched that Teal intimately at your doorstep two days ago! I witnessed how your hand was roaming her body and how you—"

"How i enjoyed it?" Four interrupted sharply, his dizziness suddenly disappearing as the ruthlessness returned to his expression.

"Enjoyed what? She's classless!" Sierra's eyes widened.

"Ah.." Four accentually spelt out the sound before stepping closer, his height covering her.

Sierra shifted, and her back met with the wall which made her gasp a little.

She looked up at Four's face, and as he brought his face closer, she gulped, totally forgetting where she is.

The armies at the field are all speechless. It's another show entirely despite the fact that Abbey's body is still on the chair.

Teal's eyes could cut right now.

Sierra's heartbeats were erratic as Four's face got closer and closer, and she finally closed her eyes, expecting a breathtaking kiss.

Four leaned into her ear instead, whispering...

"She wouldn't close her eyes for a kiss if it were her. She'd fight, kick and curse. That's what makes her Teal Ambrose, but tell me, what exactly is peculiar about you except the fact that you're shamelessly in love with me?"
