Mia was in the kitchen with her mother, helping out with the day's chores as usual.
"Mom, do you know I met the prince yesterday?" Mia said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Her mother, Ruth, looked up from the vegetables she was chopping. "Really, you did?"
She nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, he came to see Naomi at the security post where we were playing."
"Oh, did anyone see him? You know it's against the rules for him to be seen there."
"No one saw us. He didn't spend much time. He was so nice and charming."
"Mia, what do you know about a guy being charming? You're just four."She said, playfully.
"Is it wrong to say he's charming?"
"No, dear. It's just that you're very young to be noticing things like that."She smiled.
Mia nodded, still looking a bit self-conscious. "Well, I just think he's charming. He was so polite when talking to me."
"That's nice, dear."
"And guess what, Mom? Naomi attends the same school as him."
"No, she doesn't."Ruth's eyebrows shot up.
"Yes, Mom. When I asked her how she managed to get into the school, she said she got a free scholarship."
"That's so brilliant of her."
"Can I go to the same school too?"
"No, dear. That school is for wealthy kids. I couldn't afford the school fees. Naomi got in because of the scholarship."
Mia's face scrunched up in disappointment, and she pulled a sad face.
Ruth put a comforting arm around her daughter's shoulders. "Don't worry, I'll look for a better school for you here."
"Okay, Mom."She forced a smile.
Meanwhile, one of the maids, who had been listening in on their conversation, slipped out of the kitchen, intent on informing the queen about what she had just heard. The queen had assigned her to keep a close watch on everything going on in the palace, and she was determined to report back to her.
~~Queen Lala's room~~
Queen Lala's face turned red with rage as she listened to the maid's report.
"What? Alex is still secretly seeing that black devil behind my back? Despite my warnings, to the point of them attending the same school, how is that possible?"
The maid trembled, fearing the queen's wrath. "I heard it's through a scholarship, my queen."
"I won't allow this. If I allow them to be together, it will bring disaster to my family. I will have to end this as soon as possible, before she becomes a great topic in my family."
The queen's voice was cold and calculating, sending shivers down the maid's spine. She quickly curtsied and backed out of the room, eager to escape the queen's wrath.
♠ SCHOOL ♠
It was free period, and the students were busy doing their own thing. Naomi sat peacefully at her desk, lost in thought, when someone walked up to her and placed a small piece of paper on her desk.
She looked up to see a classmate smiling at her before quickly leaving the classroom. Naomi's curiosity was piqued as she picked up the paper and unfolded it.
The message was brief, with only five words: "Meet me at the roof."
Naomi hesitated for a while and then stood up after arranging her books in her bag. She left and came to the roof to see Alex standing by the rail of the roof with his guard around.
"Alex?" She called surprisedly.
He turned to her. "You got my letter."
"You sent this?"
Alex nodded. "Where you busy?"
"Not really," She replied.
They sat down together.
"Okay, I have something for you," Alex said and brought two packs of chocolate and gave her one.
"Wow, thanks. Where did you get this from?" She asked.
"My father bought two for me," He replied, taking a bite of his chocolate.
Naomi also took a bite. "It's nice."
"I know you will like it."
They smiled at each other as they were enjoying each other's company as they savored the chocolate.
Some minutes later, the free break was over, and they were set to return to their classes. Alexander looked at her.
"Can we be seeing each other here during free period?" he asked, his voice low and eager.
"Okay, that will be good."
She waved at him before leaving, and Alexander stood smiling after her, feeling elated.
The guard, who had been watching from a discreet distance, stepped forward.
"It seems you're becoming quite addicted to her, Your Highness."
Alexander chuckled, his eyes still shining with happiness. "Maybe. I just like her presence around me."
"What if you get caught?"The guard raised an eyebrow.
"You won't let that happen. You're my trusted guard, and it's your duty to make sure everything goes smoothly. Since my mother doesn't like us seeing each other, the best way is to meet here."
The guard nodded, understanding the situation. "What if your sister finds out? You know she doesn't want Naomi around you either."
"You're right. I'll make sure she never suspects anything."
With a determined look on his face, Alexander turned to leave the roof, his guard following closely behind.

Later that evening, the royal family gathered around the dining table, enjoying their evening meal. Queen Lala smiled, a hint of excitement in her voice.
"Alright, kids, we have something to share with you."
Diva and Alexander looked up from their plates.
"What's that, Mom?" Diva asked, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Queen Lala took a deep breath before announcing, "Well, your father and I have come to the conclusion that you two will be going to the state to round up your studies."
Alexander's eyes widened in surprise, while Diva let out a squeal of delight.
"Yes, I knew it!" Diva exclaimed, her face beaming with happiness.
"Why? Why can't we round up our studies here? Why the state?" he asked, his brow furrowed in confusion.
"It was your mother's idea, and I think it will be best for you two."King Luke smiled.
Diva nodded enthusiastically. "Sure, we love this idea! I've always wished to go to the state."
Alexander shook his head. "I don't want to. I love it here. I don't want to leave."
"It's for your own good, son." King Luke said.
"We're not rushing you. You still have till the end of the month to decide, since you'll be taking a break soon from school."Queen Lala intervened, her voice soothing.
Alexander sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat.
Later that night, Alex sat in his room, looking somber. The door creaked open, and his mother, Queen Lala, entered.
"Why are you still up?" she asked, moving to sit beside him on the bed.
Alex shrugged. "I'm not feeling sleepy."
"Is it about what I said at dinner?"
"Mom, I don't want to leave this place. I like it here."
"I know, son, but this is your future we're talking about."
"But..."He opened his mouth to protest, but his mom cut him off.
"No buts, I'm your mother, and I know what's best for you."
"I really don't want to leave this place."
Queen Lala's eyes sparkled with insight."Is it because of her?"
Alex raised his face to hers, a hint of wariness in his eyes.
"Who?"
"I'm talking about the security man's daughter."
"Naomi?"
Queen Lala nodded. "Will you change your mind if I let you be friends with her?"
"Really, Mom?"
"Yes, she can come play with you here."
"Yes, yes, I will." He said, happily.
"Then it's settled."
Alex threw his arms around her, hugging her tightly. "Thank you."
"Anytime, sweetie."She hugged him back, her voice warm.
