Mia was busy helping her mother in the kitchen, learning the ins and outs of cooking and cleaning. Her mother handed her a small bowl of water to throw away, and Mia carefully carried it out of the kitchen.

As she turned the corner, she collided with Diva and Elora, who were walking down the hallway with their assigned maids. The bowl slipped from Mia's hands, and the water splashed onto the floor.

"Watch it, you moron!" Diva yelled, her voice echoing down the hallway.

Mia quickly apologized, scrambling to pick up the bowl. "I'm sorry."

"Were you blind? Didn't you see us coming?" Elora sneered.

"I am sorry, it was an accident."Mia stood up, her eyes downcast.

Just then, Mrs. Ruth appeared, drawn by the commotion. She bowed low, addressing the princesses.

  "Your Highness."

Mia moved to stand beside her mother, who placed a protective arm around her shoulders.

"Who's she?" Diva asked, her voice dripping with disdain.

 "She's my daughter, Your Highness."

 "Your daughter?"She scoffed.

"She's lucky she didn't spill that dirty water on me, otherwise, she would have seen the worst of me."Elora chimed in, her voice equally rude.

"I am sorry for what happened. I'll make sure it never happens again."Mrs. Ruth apologized profusely.

Diva hissed, turning to leave with Elora and their maids in tow.

  "Are you okay?" she asked.

Mia nodded, wincing slightly. "Yes, Mom."

But Mrs. Ruth's eyes had already spotted the blood trickling from Mia's knee.

"Sit here, let me get the first aid kit to treat your wound," she said, gently guiding Mia to a nearby chair.

Mia sat down, wincing in pain as her mother hurried off to fetch the first aid kit.

Meanwhile, Naomi had become a regular visitor to the palace, spending hours playing with Alexander in the luxurious surroundings. She would often wait for him in the living room, but her presence always seemed to ruffle Diva's feathers.

Diva would frequently complain to her mother, Queen Lala, about Naomi's presence in the palace, but the queen seemed too busy to pay much attention. She was always ensconced in her room, scolding the workers for every minor mistake.

On this particular day, Alexander and Naomi were sitting at the security post, drawing together. Mr. Daniels watched from his duty post,  His assistant approached him, whispering,

"What are you going to do about this?"

"Honestly, I'm confused. I feel for my daughter, but this friendship between them will be too hard for them to maintain."He sighed tiredly.

"It's better to act fast before the queen finds out about this. Hell will break loose once she sees the two of them together."

Daniels rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. "I'm trying, but this is the king's permission. I really don't want my daughter to get into trouble."

As they spoke, Alexander and Naomi continued to draw, lost in their own little world. Naomi showed Alexander her drawing of his family, and his eyes widened in amazement.

"Is that my family?" he asked, his voice full of wonder.

 "Yes, do you like it?"

"Yes, I do. Can I have it so I can show my parents?"

"Sure."She tore out the paper and handed it to him.

Alexander thanked her, and they shared a warm smile. Just then, the guard appeared, informing Alexander that it was time to return to the palace.

Alexander stood up, waving at Naomi before leaving with his guard. She watched him go, a happy smile still on her face.

Later that evening, Mr. Daniels and Naomi were busy in the kitchen, preparing dinner together. Naomi was assisting her father with a few errands, chatting happily as they worked.

"Dear, how is it going between you and Prince Alexander?"

"Very well, Father. He's been so nice to me."

 "Really?"

"Yes, I'm happy to have a friend like him." She nodded enthusiastically.

"That's good, but there's something you must also know."

 "What, Father?"

"You know the two of you are not the same... your backgrounds are different. Society won't want you together."He hesitated, choosing his words carefully.

 "Why is that, Father?"

He sighed again, squatting down in front of Naomi with his hands on her shoulders. He looked into her eyes, his face serious.

"Listen, child. You'll have to be brave for whatever challenges come between you two. It's not going to be easy being friends with royalty. It comes with a lot of difficult things. You'll have to prepare your mind for the worst. It might not happen now, but it might in the future." He paused, his eyes searching her face. "When you see you can't hold on to it for long, break out of it to avoid more problems. Do you understand?"

She nodded, her eyes wide with understanding.

Mr. Daniels smiled, pulling her into a warm hug. "I love you, just know I'm always here with you to help overcome every challenge."

"I love you too, Father."She hugged him back, her voice muffled against his chest.

The next day at school, Naomi entered the canteen with her meal, scanning the room for an empty seat. That's when she saw Alexander, who caught her eye and waved her over, calling out her name.

The entire canteen fell silent, with all eyes on Naomi as she nervously made her way to Alexander's table. She sat down beside him, and he greeted her with a warm smile.

However, the atmosphere around them was tense. Diva and the other students sitting with them pulled frowns, their faces disapproving.

"I thought you weren't going to come," Alexander said, his eyes sparkling with delight.

Naomi smiled back at him, feeling a sense of relief at being included.

"Alex, what is the meaning of this? Why did you invite her here?" Diva asked

Alexander ignored her, focusing on Naomi instead.

Diva's voice grew louder, more insistent. "Alex!"

Alexander finally turned to her,  "What? ,She is my friend, so, she is allowed to eat with me .

"Since when, Alex? Don't you know she's not wanted here? She's not in our standard."One of the other students chimed in, their voice equally disapproving.

"That's your own opinion. Naomi stays. If you're not cool with it, there are empty spaces. You can eat there."

The table fell silent, with Diva staring daggers at Naomi, who avoided her gaze, focusing on eating her meal alongside Alexander.

The next day, Naomi was waiting in the living room as usual when Queen Lala suddenly appeared, her face twisted in anger.

"Who are you? What are you doing sitting on my couch?" Queen Lala yelled. "Are you daft? Will you get your black self off my couch?" she spat.

Naomi felt a sting from the queen's words and stood up quickly.

"Who allowed you in here, and how did you find your way here?"

She started calling out to the guards and maids, who rushed to answer her quickly, their faces bowed in respect.

Diva was staring from the stairs, a satisfied smile spreading across her face.

"Who is she?".

"She is Prince Alexander's friend, Your Majesty," one of the guards replied.

"What? This is what you've been trying to tell you ,Mom, but you never listen?" Diva said.

Just then, Alexander appeared with his guard, drawn by the commotion downstairs.

"Mom?" he called, moving to stand in front of Naomi.

"Alex, tell me what I heard is not true."

Alexander took a deep breath. "Mom, she is Naomi—"

"I don't want to hear whatever name she's called."

She pushed Alexander aside and grabbed Naomi's hand, her grip tight.

"Now listen to me, you black devil," Queen Lala spat. "I don't want to ever see you here or around my son again. Because if you do, you will regret ever making eye contact with me."

She pushed Naomi away, and Naomi stumbled backward, her eyes wide with fear.

"Mom, please, don't..." Alexander said, but his mother interrupted him.

"Don't!" she shunned him and turned to Naomi. "Leave!" she yelled.

Naomi ran out quickly without hesitation, tears streaming down her face. Alexander tried to follow her, but his mother held his hand, pulling him back.
