Sofia and the girls were seated at the bar, having their moment together while chatting.
"Seriously, Nina, why choose here for fun?" Mabel asked.
"Because I am heartbroken," she said, her voice cracking as she gulped her drink.
"Why? What happened?". Sofia asked curiously.
Nina's face fell, her eyes dropping. "I broke up with my boyfriend." The girls exchanged surprised glances. Mabel's eyes widened, her mouth agape.
"Why? Did he cheat on you or what?" Sofia asked, her brow furrowed.
"No, Jeff is a cool guy, lovable and generous."
"Then, why break up with him?"Mabel asked confusedly.
Nina's face twisted in anguish, her eyes welling up with tears. "I don't know... we both agreed we were going to see a movie together. When I called him, he said he was coming, that he would soon be through from the office. I waited for him for hours, and he didn't show up. I called his cell phone, he wasn't picking. I became worried and decided to go to his office, maybe he was still there.".She sighed and continue.". I got there, and I was told he left about an hour ago," Nina continued.
"Really?" Sofia asked, her voice laced with surprise.
Nina nodded, her eyes clouding. "I tried his cell phone, he wasn't picking. I decided to check on him at home. When I got there, I was shocked to see him coming out of the house with a lady, both holding hands." her eyes welling up with tears as she whined.
"Did you try to confront him about it?"Mabel asked.
Nina shook her head, her eyes dropping. "I was so shocked to even talk to him. I ran back crying, because he cheated on me." She gulped her drink.
"I guess we are in the same shoe right now." Sofia said sadly.
"You got your boyfriend cheating too?"
"I wish it was that... he just doesn't want me anymore."
Nina's face fell, her eyes filled with empathy. "Aw! That's so bad." Her eyes sparkled with mischief, her lips curving. "Let's cheer to single life."
Sofia and Nina hit their glasses together, laughing. Mabel sighed tiredly, her eyes rolling.
"You two are unbelievable," Mabel said, shaking her head.
Sofia and Nina turned to Mabel, their eyes looking sleepy from being tipsy. "What?" they said in unison.
"You, Nina, why didn't you confront your boyfriend about it? What if what you saw was a misunderstanding? What if the lady you saw him with was his sister and not his mistress?" She asked.
"He has only one sister who lives outside the state with her family." Nina's words slurred slightly, her eyes glassy from the drinks.
"What if that was his sister and not what you think?"
"That's not true... if it was his sister, he would have let me know she's in town, right Sofia?"
Sofia nodded, "Yes, I believe you... guys of nowadays don't deserve ladies like us... it's better we stay single forever."
Nina's face lit up with agreement, her eyes sparkling. "You are right."
Sofia and Nina hit their glasses together again, laughing and cheering. Mabel sighed, her eyes filled with concern.
"Let's dance and forget about them," Sofia said, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Sure," Nina replied, and they moved to the dance floor, swinging their bodies to the music.
Mabel watched, "This two are getting wasted." She muttered to herself, unsure of what to do.
Some hours later, both Sofia and Nina were heavily drunk, their faces flushed, and their eyes glassy. Mabel sighed at them.
"Do you two want to go home now?" Mabel asked, her brow furrowed.
Sofia's face contorted in a drunken smile, her eyes sparkling. "No, it's fun here... I want to forget everything about him."
"Me too... Jeff is a jerk!"
"Mine is the worst form of jerk!" Sofia said. They both laughed drunkenly, their bodies swaying.
Mabel's expression turned frustrated, her eyes rolling. "I can't take this anymore". She took Nina's phone from her bag and asked, "Nina, what's your password?"
Nina's face was slack, her eyes half-closed. "Jeff," she slurred without looking at Mabel.
"Ok." She typed in the name, and the phone unlocked. Her eyes scanned the phone, her expression curious. "What's Jeff's name on your phone contact?"
Nina's face turned up, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Jerk!" They both laughed drunkenly again.
"Woah, this jerk gave you thousands of missed calls... why did you save his name as 'jerk'?"
"I replaced his name with jerk today... because he is one." Her eyes contorted in a drunken smile.
Sofia's face lit up with a mischievous grin, her eyes sparkling. "Maybe I should change Shawn's name on my phone to 'Asshole' too." They both laughed drunkenly again, and Mabel rolled her head at them.
"You two are really wasted," Mabel said, shaking her head. She dialed Jeff's number on the phone, and it rang before he picked up.
"Hello, Nina, what happened to you? You left me worried," Jeff panicked from the other end of the phone.
"Um, this isn't Nina... this is her friend... we are at the bar... and she is heavily drunk... can you come and pick her up?"
Jeff's voice was filled with concern. "Yes, yes, I am on my way... just text me the address... and I will be there right away."
Mabel hung up the phone and texted Jeff the address.
She looked at the two drunk ladies resting their heads on the table, her expression a mix of concern and frustration.
"I guess I have to call Shawn to come get you too." She took Sofia's phone from her back, but unfortunately, it was turned off. "Now she has low battery, what do I do?". She sighed frustratedly.
She thought for a while, her eyes scanning the room, and then brought out her phone to call Troy. Suddenly, her eyes caught sight of Shawn entering the bar.
Mabel's eyes widened in surprise, her mouth agape. "Shawn?" She waved at him to come over, and Shawn saw her and walked up. Shawn's expression was stern, his eyes fixed on Sofia. "It's so good that you are here, I was about to call Troy to inform you where we are," Mabel said.
Shawn sighed, his eyes still fixed on Sofia. "Thank you, I actually came because my men informed me about it."
"You knew we were here?" She asked curiously, her brow raised.
"Yes, I had my men keep a close watch on her."
"Aww!, that's so cute!" Her face lit up with a smile. But before she could continue, Troy interrupted from behind.
"What are you girls doing in a bar?" Troy interrupted from behind. Mabel turned around, surprised to see Troy, and then Jeff entered the bar, looking around.
Jeff's eyes scanned the room until they landed on Mabel, and he called Nina's cell phone. Mabel answered it and waved at him to come over.
Mabel's eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at Jeff. "You must be Jeff, right?"
Jeff's face lit up with a mixture of relief and concern. "Yes, thank you so much for calling me. I was so worried about her that she didn't answer my call since yesterday."
Troy's brow furrowed, his eyes scanning the scene before him. "Why are they drunk?"
Mabel's expression turned wry, her eyes rolling. "Because they are heartbroken from these two men." She nodded towards Shawn and Jeff, who exchanged a guilty glance.
"I will take it from here." He moved to Nina and gently tapped her shoulder. "Nina." Nina murmured in her sleep, and Jeff sighed, his face softening. He carefully lifted her into his arms, cradling her like a child. Mabel helped him gather Nina's belongings, handing him her bag and phone. "Thank you." Jeff nodded, his eyes grateful, and left the bar with Nina in his arms.
Shawn, meanwhile, tried to rouse Sofia, but she murmured, her eyes closed. "I don't want to go."
Shawn's face turned patient, his eyes gentle. He carefully lifted Sofia into his arms, cradling her like a child.
Mabel helped him gather Sofia's belongings, handing him her bag and phone. They all left the bar.
