~ Genevieve ~
My whole body went into complete freeze mode when Dominic's lips touched mine.
I don't know if it was happiness, or shock, or perhaps both that I was feeling as I tried to, you know, unfreeze. But he pulled away just before I could.
I facepalmed myself, shutting my eyes tight in utter frustration.
Why didn't I kiss him back when I had the chance?
You were too busy pausing.
Well, I’m not anymore!
Maybe if I tread carefully, it will happen again because it’s a must now. There’s no way I’ll let him slip away, not when he finally made his move.
"Dominic," I said as I locked eyes with his wandering ones. Even though my voice was low with careful caution, I was certain he heard me. "Do it again."
Dominic stared back at me, without even thinking of breaking the eye contact between us that was so intense we could feel the heat on our skins.
He didn't move an inch, if you don't count those amber orbs ping-ponging in mine.
I took the only step I needed to close the gap between us he had created. "Kiss me again, Dominic."
Hesitation added to the heat in his gaze, and I felt my fists clench at the impending potential rejection.
I swear, if he says anything like we can't or I can't, I’ll actually thróttle him right here.
"Dom..." My mouth instantly clamped shut as soon as I saw the hesitation melt away.
What will he do now?
My question was rather quickly answered when Dominic Morozov, the head of the brà tva, cupped my face. His big, warm, and familiar palm brushed against my cheek for a moment.
You see, he was supposed to be all brooding and whatnot, but he’s gentle with me. Only me among all the females I’ve seen him with.
I closed my eyes at the sensation, and when I reopened them, I was blessed by the sight of Dominic leaning in to meet my parted, waiting lips.
The Genevieve King of the past would have helped him do it, but I wanted him to be the one kissing me, for now. So, I stayed still for the few seconds that felt like torturous long hours until I felt his lips on mine again.
I’m not going to lie; I expected him to be a sloppy kisser because it was his first time. However, I was in for a massive shock when he did pretty well.
He tasted like everything I never thought I needed and those things your parents would warn you to stay away from. He tasted like my soon-to-be drug that I’d become a juñkie for. Dominic Morozov tasted like mine and mine alone.
I slowly pulled away, my gaze unsure whether it should linger on his lips or his eyes. Dominic also seemed to be having that same predicament.
He was still cupping my face, desire simmering in his beautiful eyes. He wanted to say something, but I beat him to it.
"Do you mind if I take the lead?" My voice was low, yet the want could be heard from a distance.
Dominic finally locked eyes with me without his gaze wavering. His lips parted, and I watched as his tongue snuck out to wet them.
Will he say no?
Will he?
I didn’t want to pressure him in the slightest, so I waited for him to reply.
"No." His voice was also low, but it still had that deep tone to it that drove me utterly mad.
Without any hesitation in sight, I claimed his devastatingly sweet lips in mine. At first, I moved slowly, letting him find his rhythm, but soon I increased my pace.
One thing I loved was that Dominic Morozov was an absolute fast learner. In just two or three minutes, he’d gone from having his first kiss to being a pro at it, even pulling me impossibly close.
Dominic kissed me like he’d dÃe if he didn’t, like his very life depended on it. He kissed me like he couldn’t get enough. I was the one taking the lead, yet I felt he was the one driving the kiss.
Neither of us wanted to stop, however we knew we had to, especially when two bodies were on the ground barely managing to breathe next to us. So, we reluctantly pulled away, and I took exactly two steps back to inhale something that wasn’t Dominic Morozov.
Even that was hard because I could still smell him as we started to walk again. None of us said anything, and I felt like I shouldn’t break this particular silence, at least not now.
As soon as we got into the apartment, I stayed quiet while Dominic shrugged off his suit with a paÃnful hiss.
His hand was still bleéding, and having touched my face, there was bloód smeared across my cheek.
“Let me take a look.” I hurried to his side and grasped his hand. Thankfully, he didn’t resist as I led him to the sink to rinse away the dried and fresh bloód. “Do we have a first aid kit?”
“Yes, I’ll fetch it.”
“No, just tell me where it is and I’ll get it.”
He told me, and I nodded. “Stay put.” I dashed off to retrieve it and returned to treat his wound the best way I knew how. “See? All sorted.”
His amber eyes locked onto mine, and his palm came to rest on my cheek. My eyelids fluttered shut as he stroked my cheek with his thumb. “I’ve got bloód on you.”
What happens now after we kissed?
“Well, I think it adds to the charm of my makeup.” He grinned. “Do... do you want to discuss the kiss?” His hand dropped from my cheek in an instant, and I had to fight against the pang of hurt in my chest.
Dominic turned and began to walk away, and I followed, not wanting to wait until he reached his destination before I said, “We can talk this through. I mean, we aren’t teenagers.” Then I remembered and quickly corrected myself. “Wait, I am, but you’re not.”
He turned to face me, and all I wanted was to close the gap between us, but I didn’t. His hands slipped into his pockets, though he soon pulled one out to tuck the strands of hair from his eyes behind his ear. “Vixen, what is there to discuss? We’re both sober adults who shared a few kisses moments ago; no big deal.”
What?
No big deal?!
What on earth?
However, before I could respond, I caught a flicker of a smile on his lips; it was small and fleeting, but I saw it and hissed in annoyance, irritated that he was toying with me.
The distance between us wasn’t making things any better, quite the opposite, so I decided to bridge it. I steadied my voice to sound normal. “No big deal? Excuse me, Mister, let me remind you in case you’ve forgotten, those few kisses were your first, and I had the responsibility to make them memorable; so yes, it’s a big deal.”
“Well, you fulfilled that responsibility.” Dominic’s words brought me a sense of bliss. His head tilted in feigned confusion, clearly trying to provoke me, and I braced myself for whatever he would say next. “Though, I don’t recall giving you that job.”
“I assigned it to myself.” I told him, and he laughed as if I’d told a joke. Dismissing his pleasant laugh, I stepped closer to eliminate the remaining distance because I needed an answer to another question. “So when you said I fulfilled the responsibility, what did you mean?”
“I’ll go freshen up.”
Argh!
“Jérk.”
••
As I emerged from my room after a shower, I expected to find Dominic in the sitting room, only to discover it was empty. I didn’t need to search too hard to know where he’d gone.
The evening was chilly, as if it might rain soon. With that in mind, I made my way upstairs and found I was right about his whereabouts.
Good job, me. Well done, brain.
He was in the pool, which was steaming hot like a Jacuzzi, his head tilted back and eyes closed. My first footstep into the water alerted him, and he raised an eyebrow questioningly.
I was wearing a singlet and pantiés under an oversized hoodie, so I removed the first layer before settling in beside him. The cold breeze nipped at my skin, but the warmth of the water soon fought to prevail.
And it did, by the way.
“What are you doing?”
Flying, what does it look like I’m doing?
That was what I wanted to say, but I held my tongue and replied, “Keeping you company. What are you doing?”
He chuckled. “Nothing.”
See? It isn’t very nice to ask stúpidly obvious questions expecting an earnest answer.
“It’s fun to do nothing,” I said, knowing that from experience. “Isn’t it a lovely evening?”
“Lovely? I don’t know. Peaceful? Yes.”
“It certainly is peaceful now.” He glanced over at me, clearly understanding what I meant. “How’s your hand?”
Who knew watching a fÃght unfold could be so entertaining? I did, because I’d always watched those silly scuffles in school between immature boys fighting over nothing.
But this was a lot different to even compare to one another. Dominic Morozov nearly killéd that bastà rd because he had a knÃfe to my neck. I know that because he batteréd me more than he did that other idÃot who injured him.
He likes me a lot more than he will admit, and I loved that my plan is working. I’m finally seeping so deep into his system that he can’t control it anymore, and there’s no victory better than that for me.
“Fine,” he said.
“That’s good. You know, I’ve never been held at knÃfepoint before; it was quite an interesting experience.”
I wasn’t lying. I would have let Dominic deal with that wannabe thÃef earlier, but when his hand brushed against my waist, I saw red.
No one touches me, ever, not without my permission. So, I kickéd him off and let Dominic do his thing while I watched. My only regret is that I didn’t have popcorn to properly enjoy the scene; too bad, right?
“You’re mà d.”
Why do people think that’s an insult?
I love my madnéss. It makes me, me.
“I know.”
“It’s not a compliment.”
“It should be. Would you rather be here with a non-mà d girl?”
I knew his answer before he could even explain, but don’t blame me for wanting to hear it from his mouth—his delicious mouth.
Cut it out.
What? It’s not like I’m lying.
“Not a word,” Dominic said.
Who cares?
Literally everyone, but you.
Ignoring that voice in my head, I retorted, “Answer the question, Dominic.”
He pinned me with his piercing gaze that shone brightly whenever he stared at just me, his voice deep and assured. “No, I like being here with you. Besides, a non-mà d girl wouldn’t want to stay here with me; she’d be utterly freaked out.”
“Are you saying we’re a good match?”
Dominic laughed almost mockingly, shaking his head. “You can’t match my madñess.”
“Why? Because you unà live people for a living?”
“Exactly, yeah. And I don’t do that for a living.”
“Yeah? Then why do you do it?”
“I do it because they do something stupÃd.”
“StupÃd like what?”
“Like húrting people I care about, me, or my business.”
“Hmmm.”
I slid under the water and slowly came out in between Dominic’s legs since he was seated. His eyes went wide for the briefest second before he asked, “What are you doing?”
He must really like that particular question tonight. Let’s hope he won’t ask me again.
“I’ll be the one asking the questions here, and you’re yet to answer mine. How was the kiss?”
“Okay.”
“Just okay?”
He exhaled a breath, and it landed on my face. “It was wonderful, Vixen.”
That’s my Dominic.
I threaded my fingers through his slightly damp hair with a wide smile. “Wonderful enough for a second round?”
I don’t know why, but he still seemed to be holding onto the last vestiges of his unnecessary self-control. It was like he didn’t want to let go of it; I needed him to let go of it completely tonight.
I leaned in for a kiss, but Dominic turned his head and quickly stood up. I watched him step out of the pool, leaving me in it. He didn’t leave just yet; he stretched out his uninjured hand for me to take, and I took it.
After he helped me up out of the pool, he wrapped a towel around my body and draped my hoodie over my shoulders before taking his own towel.
I can’t stress enough how annoying his rejection is each time.
Dominic rushed to his room as if staying with me a second longer would mean losing his precious self-control, and that’s exactly what I wanted, so I followed him to his room.
“Do you like this?” I asked as soon as I stepped into his room, fixing him with an inquisitive gaze. “Running and avoiding this—you must like it a lot.”
“Genevieve, you don’t understand how dangeroús this can be if it happens. Whatever is going on between us is catastrophically dangérous.”
What on earth is he going on about?!
“Dangeróus to want you as much as you want me?”
“Yes.”
“Okay then, I don’t care.”
“Genevieve, if we cross that line, it will be disastróus for both of us. You will be entangled with me.”
Nothing was stopping me from snapping. “We already crossed that line when you kissed me. And I was already entangled with you from the moment you bumped into my car that night.”
“This is different,” he protested. “A lot different.”
How much do I have to stress it?!
"I. Don't. Care." I rasped, emphasising each word. "Do you want me?"
Dominic let out a heavy breath, placing both hands on his face and raking his fingers through his hair.
"Dominic," I pressed.
"Yes!" he exclaimed. "Yes, I want you. I want you so badly, Genevieve. But..."
"No buts." I interrupted. "It's a yes or no question; pick one."
Despite his heavy breathing and wavering control, his voice still came out clearly. "Yes."
I took a few strides towards him and pressed my lips against his. He responded immediately, kissing me as if nothing else mattered. His hands wrapped around my waist as mine found their way onto his shoulders, deepening the kiss.
We wanted each other, and we weren’t hiding that anymore. I pulled away, taking his lower lip between my teeth before letting it go.
Our eyes locked, smiles on our faces, before our lips met again. I pushed him towards the bed and straddled his legs. His grunts sounded like music to my ears as I ground against him.
Reluctantly, I let my lips pull away to place a kiss on his neck. My actions caused him to take a deep breath, tightening his hold on my waist. I let my tongue make an appearance as I licked my way back to his lips while still grinding against his búlge.
Dominic was breathless; I was breathless. But who needs air when we have each other? His lips left mine as he peppered kisses across my face until he reached my neck. He sank his teeth into my skin, eliciting a móan from deep within me.
My movements on his legs, against his bulge, quickened, and oxygen seemed to be slipping away faster than before. He brought his lips back to mine after he was done nibbling and sucking on my neck, definitely leaving a hickéy in his wake.
We let the desire and want we felt for each other guide us as we both approached climax. Breathless, we stared at each other and grinned before Dominic pecked my lips, then my forehead.
Yeah, I finally got him.
