DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL
Daddy's Little Girl - Episode 5
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I collected the results in an envelope after waiting for hours, checking through it I realized it's the same thing with the first
This was the second place.
I sighed heavily, got into my car and head to another hospital
I presented the sample, they took mine and went to work on it
I was hoping it won't take time like the first and second place
Within a short time, the result was out.
Without bothering to open it, I left with it in hand.
I entered my car, shot my eyes and heave heavily.
I sigh as I opened the first and second envelope and then the third one.
I began to cross check
I was somehow hoping to see a mistake but the truth stare at me.
The three DNA results were all the same
I sighed heavily as I tossed the results back into the envelope
I hide it in my car.
I spoke with Martin earlier, informing him that I was driving down for a drink
it was already 7 pm
I needed a drink to clear my head.
Martin said he will be at our usual spot waiting
I drove down and he was there.
He asked the bar attendant to bring my brand
After opening the beer, I began to drink quietly.
Martin asked me what was eating at me again
"What else gives me sleepless night except Marvel's case.."
"You're the one allowing it to disturb you. Marvel is such a sweet child. Despite her setback she's still trying to catch up her miles stone, why can't you focus on the positive side of the child and leave the dark part..."
"...The last time I visited your family with my wife and kids, Edna informed us that Marvel can read, it may not be so perfect but at least she's making a good attempt..."
I chuckled, as I drank deeply from my bottle.
"What do you call reading and meeting her miles stone? Edna was only trying to sound hopeful whereas there's nothing like hope in Marvel's case. Marvel can't read properly, she's still battling with two and three letter words which is far from hope. I have heard and seen Julie struggling to teach her letters and words. The learning that was supposed to take less than a week for a normal child to grab usually take about a month plus with Marvel..."
I took another sip from my drink
"... you won't understand Martin, you're not in my shoe.."
"You're troubled because you allowed yourself to be. You know God never makes a mistake, there must be a reason for Marvel coming to your home and becoming part of you and your wife. Children are gifts from God and Marvel isn't exceptional..."
I kept quiet as I try to think on what he said, maybe there will be a tiny hope to hold onto.
"I did the DNA test Martin.."
He set his drink aside and stared at me
"You seriously went ahead with the DNA?
"Yes, I did. I needed to be sure...to be certain that Marvel was my bl00d. I just had to Martin.."
"Are you satisfied and very certain now..."?
"You didn't even bother to ask me what was the result of the DNA test.." I asked Martin who wasn't eager to know.
"Why can't you see that Marvel is your carbon copy. She looks so much like you. You don't even need a DNA test to prove that she's yours biologically. I know you were only wasting money for a DNA. I have told you before and I'm sure that I'm not the only one that have told you that..."
"Maybe I shouldn't have, aside the money I wasted doing it in three different hospitals which isn't a little money. Edna doesn't deserve this, she will never stoop low to allow another man touch her. She's reserved and principled. She's a strong believer and has tried to be a supportive partner all this years..."
"... doubting her fidelity and going for a secret DNA feels like I went overboard. My curiosity was just at it's peak. I feel like I have offended her..."
"You did man, Edna and Marvel deserve better than all you've done to them for almost seven years..."
I heaved sadly
"I saw a birthmark on Marvel this morning. I quickly concluded that it was enough prove that Marvel wasn't mine but Edna proved me wrong. She pointed to the same Mark on my body..."
"...did you know that I even forgot that I had the same birthmark. I was speechless this morning. Doing the DNA was to clear my doubts. I took Marvel's bløød while my wife was in the kitchen..."
"... since my wife is a nurse, we have all this first aid stuffs in the house. I took one undictated to carry out my plan..."
I remembered the hurt I see in Marvel's eyes as she looked at me when I was taking her bl00d.
It was as if she was submitting herself for more sample.
She didn't make a fuss or throw tantrums apart from the alarmed scream she released when the syringe pierced her skin
She allowed me take everything I needed from her body without trouble.
I heaved again
"...I don't know why she was born with autism but I wish she wasn't. I will do all I can to accept the current situation and embrace it because I can't actually escape it. She's my daughter after all..."
"You're better than what you portray man, don't allow the d£vil to use you to tear down your family..."
"Marvel's birthday is next month, we will go for the camp out. I will inform my wife about it. We will join you and your family for the camp out. I take will few days from work..."
"You really don't have to take days from work, it's gonna be a weekend thing. We go on Friday and return on Sunday. You can choose the location that suits you.."
I nodded
I informed Martin that I had to talk to Edna first before anything
He agreed.
The camp out will be a good time to bond with Marvel, maybe I will be able to fully accept her, understand her better, love her regardless and be a good Dad to her.
I don't know how possible it's going to be but I'm ready to try
After hanging out with Martin, I drove back home.
I stopped to get Edna's favourite cookies and snacks.
She was happy when I presented it to her.
Marvel face lit up when she saw me, as I approached her she was excited but when I noticed saliva drooling down her mouth as she laughs and speaks excitedly.
I suddenly withdrew back
I heard Zena said "eww, disgusting" when she noticed Marvel drooling.
Edna caution her immediately.
I pretended like I wanted to urinates and left after telling Edna to tidy Marvel up because the saliva was quite disgusting.
I told her that Zena was right after all.
Edna was about to start a quarrel with me but I walked away and only returned when Zena was calling me.
Zena needed my attention and I didn't waste time in attending to her.
She fill me in with school runs and her friends.
Jonah also had one or two to say.
Marvel watched me silently
She wasn't angry, she just looked at us with a bright face.
I wonder what was going on in her tiny little mind.
Edna has already cleaned her up and was trying to get her ready for the night.
I don't know if I would ever be the father that Marvel deserves
But I will keep trying.
